
HMD Global was going to unveil a new smartphone at a launch event taking place in Beijing, China today. Based on the recently spotted launch event invite card, the phone was likely to be the Nokia X5.
Nokia X5 Launch Cancelled: Reasons
However, The company has released a statement via its official Weibo profile letting fans know that the event was cancelled. It is unclear as to what the exact reason for this is, but it looks like there might have been some scheduling conflict with the launch event venue.
At the time of writing, Nokia has not mentioned when the Nokia X5 launch has been postponed to. We shall update you regarding any further developments.
Nokia X5: Expected Specifications
A TENAA listing and a few CAD renders popped up a while ago which gave us our first look at the upcoming smartphone. It is highly likely that the Nokia X5 will feature a 5.86-inch FHD+ screen along with a notch at the top. As for processing capabilities, the phone is expected to be powered by a 2GHz octa-core chipset. It isn’t certain which exact CPU this might be, with rumors previously suggesting either a Helio P23 or some Snapdragon 600 series chipset. New reports have popped up suggesting it might be running on a Helio P60 SoC instead. The latest Android Oreo is likely to arrive on the device by default. The experience will certainly be quite close to stock Android as that is the trend the company has been following for a while now. As for the battery, a 3000mAh cell is expected to be fueling this handset.
