Last month, Vivo India sent out invites to a launch event on the 19th of July to announce the launch of its NEX flagship smartphone in the country. Ahead of the launch event next week, the NEX listed online on Amazon.in, confirming that the handset will be launched in India as an Amazon exclusive.
The leak confirms that it will be the flagship NEX S variant that will be launched in India and not the NEX A. However, it appears the smartphone will simply be called NEX and not NEX S in India. Moreover, we’ve managed to dig up the price of the Vivo NEX for the Indian market.
Vivo NEX: Price in India
The Vivo NEX price in India will be Rs. 48,990, undercutting the price of the OPPO Find X which was launched in earlier today for Rs. 59,990. The flagship smartphone will be available to pre-order on Amazon India starting 19th July at 1 PM.
Vivo NEX: Launch Offers And More Revealed
Amazon.in will be offering up to Rs.5,000 extra off on exchange on the Vivo NEX, which could potentially take the pricing down to just under the Rs.45,000 mark. HDFC Bank credit and debit cardholders will be able to avail cashback on purchasing the smartphone, although the exact amount hasn’t been listed. Vivo NEX customers will also be eligible to receive Mobile Damage Insurance, No Cost EMI up to 12 months, and assured buyback. Jio subscribers will receive additional data offers as well.
Vivo NEX: Specifications, Features
The Vivo NEX features an Ultra FullView Super AMOLED display measuring 6.59-inches diagonally with 1080 x 2316 Full HD+ resolution and a 19.3:9 aspect ratio. Apart from boasting an impressive 91.24% screen-to-body ratio, the Vivo NEX comes with a third generation in-display fingerprint sensor as well. Since it is the flagship variant that Vivo is bringing to India, the NEX will be powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset clocked at 2.7 GHz with an Adreno 630 GPU. In terms of memory, the variant that will be coming to India will include 8GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage. Further expansion is not possible since the NEX lacks a microSD card slot.
At the rear is a 12MP + 5MP dual-camera setup with the primary sensor boasting large 1.4um pixel size, Dual Pixel PDAF for fast autofocus speeds, and 4-axis optical image stabilization. However, unlike the OnePlus 6 and the ASUS ZenFone 5Z, the Vivo NEX does not support 4K video recording at 60 fps. It can only capture 4K videos at 30 fps. The pop-up selfie camera module offers 8MP resolution and is paired with an f/2.0 aperture.
Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, USB Type-C port, and Dual 4G VoLTE. The smartphone packs a large 4000mAh non-removable battery with 22W fast charging support. Vivo NEX comes with a dedicated AI button on the left-side to enable access to a wide range of AI services. In the audio department, the Vivo NEX includes dual CS43199 + SSM6322 amplifier for audiophile-grade sound quality. In terms of software, the Vivo NEX will ship with the Android 8.1 Oreo-based Funtouch OS 4.0 out of the box.
