Xiaomi is on a roll, releasing the MIUI 10 Beta ROM to all of its compatible devices. The MIUI 10 Global Beta ROM is currently available for a bunch of devices, including the Mi 6, Mi 5, and the Redmi Note 4. Now, Xiaomi has given us a sneak peak for a new version of the MIUI 10 Beta ROM that will be released later this week, for these three devices.
The new version is v8.7.12, and it will include some bug fixes and performance improvements for the said devices. It is not available for download yet, but should be released by the end of this week.
Last week, the company had released the MIUI 10 Global Beta ROM v8.7.5 for the Redmi Note 5/Pro, Mi 6, Mi MIX 2, Redmi S2, Mi MIX 2S, Mi 5, Mi Note 2, and the Mi MIX. And earlier this week, the recently announced Mi Pad 4 also got the v8.7.5 of MIUI 10, which is based on Android 8.1 Oreo.
The latest User Interface update from Xiaomi, MIUI 10, brings a lot of new changes, improvements, and elements to all supported devices. The skin will be available for phones running Android Nougat and above. The latest devices from Xiaomi, the Mi 8 series, come with MIUI 10 out of the box.
It features a redesigned Recents menu, full-screen display gestures, less clutter, new system sounds, icons, UI elements, single camera AI Portrait mode, and several India specific features.
MIUI 10 v8.7.12: What’s New?
The new update, which Xiaomi says will roll out by the end of this week, is mainly focused on crushing some bugs that were present in the previous build. The MIUI 10 Global Beta ROM v8.7.12 will be available for the Redmi Note 4, Xiaomi Mi 6, and the Mi 5.
On the Redmi Note 4, the update will fix a bug that stopped the Security feature from working. On the Mi 6, there was an issue that caused the lock screen to not show any notifications. This update fixes that bug. And finally, on the Mi 5, the video used to get stuck when shooting in 1080P. That has been fixed as well.
This is just a preview of the change-log for the update, whereas the final BETA ROM will include several more changes, and improvements.
Redmi Note 4
The Redmi Note 4 is more than a year old and was launched with a 5.5-inch 1080p display, a Snapdragon 625 processor, up to 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of internal storage. It features a single 13MP rear camera, a 5MP front camera, and a 4100mAh battery. The phone originally came with Android 6.0 Marshmallow and is now running Android 7.1.1 Nougat. The MIUI 10 update for this phone is based on Nougat.
Xiaomi Mi 6
Xiaomi released the Mi 6 in April last year, and it featured a 5.15-inch 1080p display, a Snapdragon 835 processor, up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The phone featured a dual-rear camera setup with two 12MP sensors and a single 8MP front camera. It came with a 3350mAh battery and ran Android 7.1 Nougat when it was first released.
Xiaomi Mi 5
Released in April 2016, the Mi 5 featured a similar 5.15-inch display like the Mi 6. It was powered by the Snapdragon 820 processor, which was coupled with up to 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. It came with a single 16MP camera at the back and a 4MP sensor at the front. The phone featured a 3000mAh battery and ran Android 6.0 Marshmallow upon release. It currently runs on Android 7.1 Nougat with MIUI 9.5.
