Sony Xperia XA2 Plus with 6-inch display, Snapdragon 630 SoC, 23-megapixel camera officially announced

Sony has unveiled another smartphone in the Xperia series, the Xperia XA2 Plus.


At the beginning of this year, Sony unveiled two new smartphones, the Xperia XA2 and the Xperia XA2 Ultra. Now, the Japanese smartphone maker is expanding its range of XA2 series, with the launch of the Xperia XA2 Plus. This new offering by Sony belongs to the mid-range category with a 6-inch FHD+ display, Snapdragon 630 chipset, and a larger resolution 23MP rear camera to the table.

At the moment, Sony hasn’t announced its pricing, but it did reveal the launch timeline for the smartphone, i.e., late August 2018. The Xperia XA2 Plus is a Single-SIM device and will be available in Black, Green, Gold, and Silver color variants. Additionally, Sony has released a leather cover stand for the Xperia XA2 Plus in Black and Silver color models.

Concerning specifications, the Xperia XA2 Plus sports a 6-inch display with Full HD+ resolution, 18:9 aspect ratio and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The smartphone is powered by Snapdragon 630 SoC with Adreno 508 GPU. It comes in 4GB/6GB RAM options coupled with either 32GB or 64GB internal storage. There is a microSD card slot onboard, which allows storage expansion up tp 400GB via microSD card. On the software front, the XA2 Plus runs Android 8.0 Oreo.

For optics, the smartphone sports a 23MP rear camera with Hybrid autofocus, 84-degree wide-angle lens, and 4K video recording support. On the front, there’s an 8MP selfie camera with 120-degree wide-angle sensor and f/2.4 aperture lens. The smartphone also has a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. Connectivity options suppported by the Xperia XA2 Plus include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n ac, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, and USB Type-C port. A 3580mAh battery backs the device with Qnovo adaptive charging and Quick Charge 3.0. It will be available in both Single-SIM and Dual-SIM variants.
