Apple Inc. appears to be taking a new approach to selling its line of MacBook Pro laptops in India. For the first time in India, the company is allowing buyers to choose from a range of CPUs that would power the new line of MacBook Pro the company just listed.
Apple Inc. has refreshed the Apple MacBook Pro lineup on its Indian website. The company has just listed the new 2018 models that feature the highly talked about Touch Bar feature first introduced in 2016. The updated MacBook Pro lineup includes the 13-inch and 15-inch “Touch Bar” models that pack the latest 8th Generation 6-core Intel Core processors.
The inclusion of top-end hardware and specifications are expected. However, for the first time ever in India, the company has allowed users to customize their MacBook Pro. Essentially Apple Inc. customers in India will have configurable processor, RAM, storage, and graphics card options. Needless to add, this is an exceptional opportunity for Indian buyers to fine-tune their latest MacBook Pro to precisely match their requirement.
15-Inch MacBook Pro: Specifications
The refreshed 2018 edition of the 15-inch MacBook Pro packs the latest hexa-core 8th-generation Intel Core processor. Buyers can choose between Intel Core i7 and Core i9 processors. The base frequency of these processors is about 2.9GHz, which can shoot up to 4.8 GHz under Turbo Boost mode. The laptop can be configured to have as much as 32 GB of RAM, and up to 4TB of super-fast SSD storage.
13-Inch MacBook Pro: Specifications
The 2018 edition of 13-inch MacBook Pro runs on a quad-core 8th-generation Intel Core processor. The laptop features an Intel Iris Plus integrated graphics 655 paired with 128MB of eDRAM. Apple is allowing buyers to embed up to 2TB SSD, while the 15-inch MacBook Pro buyers can insert up to a 4TB SSD. Besides the smaller screen size, the choice of processors, and SSD, the rest of the configuration on the 13-inch MacBook Pro remains identical to the 15-inch model.
Both the 2018 editions of 13-inch and 15-inch laptops feature new True Tone technology in its Retina display and Touch Bar. The new displays that these laptops sport, offer a dazzling 500 nits of peak brightness. The new Retina display with True Tone technology offer support for the P3 wide colour gamut. The 2018 lineup of MacBook Pro laptops also sport a large Force Touch trackpad, Touch Bar and Touch ID.
The laptops are packing the new Apple T2 chip for enhanced security the laptops. First introduced on the iMac Pro, Apple insists the chip delivers, “enhanced system security with support for secure boot and on-the-fly encrypted storage.” Interestingly, this is the very chip that unlocks, for the first time on a MacBook, the ability to summon Apple’s virtual digital assistant “Siri” with the call-phrase “Hey Siri.”
The MacBook Pro 2018 lineup also comes with a third-generation quieter keyboard packed into its thin and light aluminum design. Many buyers are strongly hoping Apple has solved the issue affecting the earlier Butterfly switch design. The portable workstations will also pack dynamic stereo speakers. Apple’s signature Thunderbolt 3 is also present to facilitate high speed data transfer. The port can run up to two 5K displays or four external GPUs.
Apple 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pro 2018 Edition: Price and Availability In India
Apple insists that the 8th-generation Intel Core processor in these laptops will be “ideal for manipulating large data sets, performing complex simulations, creating multi-track audio projects or doing advanced image processing or film editing.” Hence the company is clearly targeting professionals with their latest MacBook Pro models.
Interestingly, Apple is planning a simultaneous launch of its 2018 MacBook Pro lineup in the United States and India. The new models have just been announced. They start at $1,799 for the 13-inch model, with the 15-inch model starting at $2,399. The Indian prices of the 13-inch model starts at Rs. 1,49,900. The 15-inch model starts at Rs. 1,99,900. As is the norm, these models will be available via select Apple Authorised Resellers later this month.
