Apple today revealed an update to its most popular laptop for developers with even more performance and features aimed at professionals.

In what Apple is calling the most advanced Mac notebook to date, the new MacBook Pro models with Touch Bar feature 8th-generation Intel Core processors, with 6-core on the 15-inch model for up to 70 percent faster performance and quad-core on the 13-inch model for up to two times faster performance. Apple has targetted the processor as an area that will help professionals increase productivity with better multitasking and better performance with resource-demanding tasks such as video editing or working with large datasets.

The new MacBook Pro also includes support for up to 32GB of memory that is a configurable option when purchasing the device from the Apple website. Also, there’s a new True Tone display and an improved third-generation keyboard for quieter typing. It seems Apple has ironed out the issues it was having with the previous generation keyboards that are undergoing a free replacement program given the sensitivity to go faulty.

“The latest generation MacBook Pro is the fastest and most powerful notebook we’ve ever made,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “Now with 8th-generation 6-core processors, up to 32GB of system memory, up to 4TB of super-fast SSD storage, new True Tone technology in its Retina display and Touch Bar, the Apple T2 chip for enhanced security and a third-generation quieter keyboard packed into its thin and light aluminum design with all-day battery life, it’s the best notebook for pro users.”

New MacBook Pro: Faster Processing

One of the most significant updates for the new MacBook Pro is the 8th-generation 6-core Intel Core processors that provide up to 70 percent faster performance on the 15-inch MacBook Pro and 8th-generation quad-core Intel Core processors on the 13-inch model, which sees an increase that doubles the performance over the previous model. In addition to the ability to upgrade the RAM to 32GB on the 15-inch MacBook Pro, the 13-inch model sees storage max out with a 2TB SSD, while the storage options on the 15-inch model go all the way up to 4TB. The ability to store that much data locally provides professionals the flexibility to take media or large files wherever they go and have the performance at their fingertips to manipulate it.

Apple has also bundled its new T2 chip on board the MacBook Pro that delivers enhanced security with enhanced system security with support for secure boot and also provides “Hey, Siri” functionality.
