Nokia held a “Brand Festival” event in China on July 10 via the popular JD.com e-retail platform. The site has released official data of the sale and it has been observed that 10 Nokia handsets sold every minute on average. Furthermore, 5 out of each 10 units sold was a Nokia X6. The Nokia X6 Polar White edition was also among the smartphones sold that day. The phone’s immense popularity in China certainly makes us look forward to its launch in India.
5 Out Of Every 10 Handset Sold Was Nokia X6
Nokia seems to be steadily gaining back its popularity with the approach of focusing on budget smartphones. During the Nokia Brand Festival sale, JD.com reported a traffic of more than 50,000 users per hour. HMD Global was successfully able to sell smartphones to more than 10,000 customers that day. But the most exciting part of the sale was that fact that half of the mobile phones sold on that day were comprised of Nokia X6 handsets. This includes the newly launched Polar White edition of the smartphone which offers 6GB of RAM along with 64GB of internal storage.
What Does This Mean For Indian Consumers?
This phone’s success is exciting news as we can only imagine how much a disruption the phone will cause when it launches in India. The Nokia X6 is reportedly going to make its international debut on July 19. This might still not be when the phone makes it way to this country, and we might have to wait a bit longer.
The Nokia X5 was supposed to launch in China today, but the event was put on hold until further notice due to some event venue issue. It is being assumed that HMD Global could release both the Nokia X5 and Nokia X6 together in India as part of a refreshed strategy. We can only hope that the company doesn’t make us wait too long and releases the phones in India in the coming months.
