Thomson Smart TV Sales Reached 30,000 In Just 45 Days After The Launch

Thomson revealed that it has sold over 30,000 TV units in India within 45 days.


The European brand, Thomson entered the Indian market three months back. Within a short span, it seems to have garnered a good response from the buyers. We have received a press release from the brand, which states that it has sold over 30,000 Smart TVs in 45 days averaging at 5,000 units a week.

Thomson Smart TVs: Record Sales in 45 Days

In the press release, the brand claims to have reached the number one spot in selling TVs online in India. Thomson has launched Pro Series of 32 and Series 40 Smart TVs in the country alongside a dedicated range of non-smart TVs. The brand managed to sell more than 30,000 Smart TVs in three months, which is quite an impressive number for a new entrant.

The brand also mentions that the collaboration with Flipkart helped it in reaching such sales numbers and also enabled it to reach over fourteen thousand PIN codes across India. Moreover, it also states it has “triggered a stiff price-war with the likes of Xiaomi, Vu, TCL and other brands available on Flipkart.” The press release also mentions how THOMSON is banking on its ‘Make In India’ strategy.

Thomson Smart TVs: Price in India

Thomson announced three smart TVs for the Indian market – 43-inch 4K HDR TV, 40-inch Full HD TV, and 32-inch HD TV. The 43″ UHD 4K (43TM4377) price in India is Rs. 27,999, the 40″ SMART (40TM4099) is priced at Rs. 19,999, and the 32″ SMART(32M3277) is priced at Rs. 13,499. All these three smart TVs had their first sale in India on April 13, 2018. The brand also hosts flash sales on Flipkart, which result in the stock running within a few seconds. All the three smart TVs run Android-based UI.

The Thomson 43-inch LED Smart TV UD9 (43TM4377) comes with an IPS LCD panel bearing 4K resolution (3840×2160 pixels), and support for HDR content playback. Thanks to the IPS LCD panel, it has wide viewing angles of 178 degrees and maximum brightness of up to 550 nits. It has a refresh rate of 60Hz, 300000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, and 6.5ms response time. For audio, the TV has 20-watt bottom-firing stereo speakers (10W x 2) claimed to produce louder sound output. It is powered by an unknown 64-bit dual-core CPUs and Mali-T720MP2 GPU with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi b/g/n, Miracast screen mirroring, 1x Ethernet port, 3x HDMI ports, 2x USB 2.0 ports, 1x RF port for cable TV, 1x audio port, 1x headphone port, and 1x digital audio out port.
