The smart band Xiaomi Mi Band 3, which was launched in China earlier this year and is yet to arrive in India, is rumoured to receive more exciting updates. Among the latest feature to improve the functionality of this smart band is a night mode, which will adjust screen light and visuals according to the time of the day. The new update comes in tow of other new updates, including a single-touch mute function, a World Cup schedule reminder and a possible special edition with Chinese text printed on the strap.
Xiaomi Mi Band 3: Night Mode
We now have an official confirmation that a new feature called Night Mode is on the way for Xiaomi smart bands, while the company has not specified the Xiaomi Mi Band 3 for this update. However, it makes sense that the product, yet to be launched outside of China, will get the update as the rest of the Xiaomi smart bands. After all, the Xiaomi Mi Band 3, with its low pricing and sleek design, is already quite popular.
The Night Mode might add to the battery efficiency of the smart band and is likely to optimise visuals when it kicks in. The company hasn’t revealed anything yet but the way night modes work now, the smart band might go into night mode automatically after dusk.
Also, there is every chance that the night mode will, like the night mode is some reading apps, adjust the brightness of the screen to make it lighter, easier on the eyes.
Xiaomi Mi Band 3: Specifications, Features
Among the other updates that the upcoming smart band Xiaomi Mi Band 3 has already received is the very handy ‘mute’ mode. This feature can mute your smartphone without you having to reach for it, making it a much-needed function on smart bands. The capacitive button on the display of the smart band has to be long-pressed to change your smartphone’s setting from sound to silent.
The other update was a World Cup schedule reminded which makes your smartphone vibrate whenever the next match is about to start.
Among other notable features and specs of the smart band are a 0.78-inch OLED touchscreen display, weather information on the screen, app notifications, text message display, hands-free gesture control, and real-time tracking of physical activities. The band is primarily meant to keep track of your sleep and heartbeat patterns, with data updates in real time. The smart band is also waterproof up to 40 meters in and can be paired to your smartphone via Bluetooth 4.2 and NFC. Moreover, you do not need a Xiaomi Mi phone for the band to connect, as it syncs data to the Mi-Fit app which can be downloaded on any Android device.
Among the other features making the smart band, an attractive option is the slim packaging it comes in. Also brilliant is the 20-day usage time for a full charge of the battery, a claim about which the Chinese manufacturer is quite confident and buoyant.
The design is similar to that of the Xiaomi Mi Band 2, with a detachable strap, but the Xiaomi Mi Band 3 improves over its predecessor significantly as it offers not just a larger screen but also touchscreen functionality for only a little money.
Xiaomi Mi Band 3: Price in India
The Xiaomi Mi Band 3 is expected to launch in India at Rs 1,700, which is easy on the pocket and places the smart band at a great advantage over other fitness trackers. Since the smart band has been priced at Chinese Yuan 169, which works out to Rs 1,727 currently, it is likely that the band will be priced at no more than Rs 1,700 when it launches here in India.
