Watch Movies in Immersive Surround Sound On Smart TVs Using YuppTV App
Subscribers of YuppTV can enjoy select movies in Dolby Audio across Smart TVs and media players through the YuppTV App. The application, available for Android as well as iOS, can easily and wirelessly connect with Smart TVs. The display has to support Dolby Audio enabled home theatre or a sound-bar. If the app detects the same, it initiates streaming of high quality content with surround sound. It is quite apparent the company is targeting subscribers who prefer to consume movies on large-screen TVs instead of smartphones.

YuppTV: Content Library
YuppTV claims to be one of the world’s largest internet-based TV and on-demand service providers for South Asian content. The platform currently boasts of offering more than 300 TV channels and 5000+ movies in India. Unfortunately, it is not clear exactly how much content, or movies to be precise, will be available in Dolby Surround Sound.
Speaking about the collaboration with Dolby, YuppTV founder and current CEO Uday Reddy said, “YuppTV, it has been our constant pursuit to provide our users with the best entertainment solutions. We are glad to work with Dolby to provide our users with dynamic, rich, theatre-like sound quality, right at their homes, providing them with high-quality surround sound and enhancing their overall viewing experience.”
Pankaj Kedia, Managing Director, Emerging Markets at Dolby Laboratories noted, “We are excited to work with YuppTV to bring our immersive audio technology onto the YuppTV platform and offer an advanced, surround sound experience to their viewers. We are confident that YuppTV users will enjoy their favourite content in Dolby Audio.”
The streaming platform may initially offer only a small number of movies from the 5000+ catalog, in Dolby Audio. These select movies will be immediately available for streaming with Dolby Surround Sound. The two companies are undoubtedly working together to embed the immersive audio-visual experience that Dolby Digital offers within the content that the company streams. Based on the response, and the expected boost in adoption and engagement, YuppTV could continue to stream more movies with Dolby Audio.
About Dolby Audio
Dolby Audio doesn’t need any formal introduction. It is essentially a group of audio technologies and processes that work to deliver rich, clear and powerful sound. The audio component is undoubtedly one of the most important aspects of any content. However, poor audio often accompanies the visual component, thereby ruining the experience. Dolby Audio works best in the Cinema theater, but the company has been working hard to bring the same Cinema-like audio experience into the homes and also to portable media.
