OnePlus 6 With Transparent Back Posted Online: Founder Pete Lau Cautions About Safe Transformation

Latest OnePlus flagship has visible components through clear back panel.

OnePlus 6 smartphone now has a “Transparent” version. The smartphone appears to be following the popular trend set by HTC and Xiaomi. The latest flagship from OnePlus can now proudly exhibit its powerful internal hardware through a clear backside.

The latest flagship smartphone from OnePlus, the OnlePlus 6, needs no formal introduction. The device packs all the latest hardware. The company has been proudly mentioning the powerful internals. However, these components always stay hidden behind the opaque back panel. Interestingly, the back panel is made of toughened glass, which might occasionally develop cracks under extreme conditions.

Interestingly the glass panel opens up a beautiful DIY opportunity that many OnePlus 6 users wanted and two brave-hearts successfully attempted. What’s even more surprising is the fact that OnePlus founder and CEO Liu Zuohu openly appreciated the transformation. He, however, strongly advised exercising caution to anyone attempting the transformation. It cannot be stressed enough that any modification of the smartphone or even accessing internal areas of the smartphone by unauthorized personnel or buyers, immediately voids the warranty.

OnePlus 6 Gets a “Transparent” Version:

OnePlus 6 back panel, made of glass, has an opaque coating of tough paint. But one DIY expert managed to strip off the paint from the back panel, and in the process, made the back completely transparent. Besides the OnePlus logo, fingerprint sensor, the dual camera setup and the led flash, the back panel became completely transparent. Essentially, the entire panel completely exposes the internal components of the OnePlus 6.

While there aren’t many smartphone users who would appreciate a clear back panel, the trend is surprisingly growing. Many DIY (Do It Yourself) enthusiasts initiated the trend. But smartphone manufacturers, including HTC and Xiaomi, quickly picked up the same. These manufacturers have experimented with some smartphones by offering either a translucent or a transparent back that allows buyers to see what’s inside.

The HTC U11+ and the Xiaomi Mi 8 are two most prominent examples of smartphones that currently feature a back panel that allows buyers to peek inside the smartphone without actually removing the same. Xiaomi even launched Xiaomi Mi Band 3 Explorer Edition, which sports a translucent wristband to match the design aesthetics of the Mi 8.
