Nokia X6 To Face Competition From Xiaomi Mi A2, Mi A2 Lite: Who Takes The Crown?

Three competitive mid-range devices, but which comes out on top?

The Nokia X6 launched to renowned success on July 10 that saw 10 handsets sold every minute on average. The device was so popular that 5 out of 10 handsets sold via the popular e-retailer was a Nokia X6. With the India launch of the Nokia X6 coming up fast and the international launch of the device on July 19, the device faces tough competition from the Xiaomi Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite. Can the Nokia X6 see the same success as Nokia 6.1 Plus in the global market?

Nokia X6: Specifications, Features

The Nokia X6 has a 5.8-inch IPS LCD screen with a display resolution of 2280 × 1080 and a 19:9 aspect ratio and is the first phone by HMD Global to feature a notch at the top of the display allowing the device to achieve an 85% screen-to-body ratio. The phone is built with premium glass construction on both sides and features a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. Powering this mid-range handset is a Snapdragon 636 octa-core chipset paired with an Adreno 509 GPU. The device runs Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box.

The Nokia X6 retains the 3.5mm headphone jack and has a USB Type-C connector which has support for Quick Charge 3.0. On the camera front, you have a 16MP + 5MP dual-camera setup at the back, while the front notch holds a 16MP selfie camera. All the usual connectivity options can be found such as 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS and so on. All of this is powered by a 3060mAh battery that should see a full day’s use.

Xiaomi Mi A2, Mi A2 Lite: Specifications, Features

Going up against the Nokia X6 is the Xiaomi Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite that offers some impressive features. While the Mi A2 will sport an 18:9 aspect ratio, the Mi A2 Lite will have a taller 19:9 display complete with a notch on the top of the display. The regular Mi A2 has a 5.99-inch 1080 x 2160 display with dimensions 158.7 x 75.4 x 7.3 mm. The device runs Android 8.1 Oreo and is powered by an Octa-core Qualcomm SDM660 Snapdragon 660 with Adreno 512 as well as 6GB of RAM with 128GB or 64GB of internal storage or 4GB of RAM with 32GB of storage. The camera is a dual rear camera setup with a 12-Megapixel f/1.8 and 20-Megapixel f/1.8 lens. You’ll also find a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and USB Type-C connectivity.

The Mi A2 Lite has a smaller 5.84-inch display but sports the same dual camera setup on the rear of the device so looks largely similar to its older brother. In an effort to cut costs, a micro-USB port is featured instead of the newer Type-C connector but does include a 3.5mm headphone jack, which is something the Mi A2 doesn’t have. The device is also powered by a Snapdragon 625 instead of the Snapdragon 660 but you’ll still see 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage and Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. The Mi A2 Lite is also powered by a rather impressive 4,000mAh battery that will certainly see a full day of use, if not two days.

Nokia X6, Xiaomi Mi A2, Mi A2 Lite: Price in India

The Mi A2 base model with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage looks set to start at roughly Rs.14,999, although the most expensive model with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage should be expected to cost Rs.17,999. The Mi A2 Lite is expected to be roughly Rs.12,999

In comparison, the Nokia X6 is set to cost somewhere in the region of Rs.16,999 for the base model or Rs.19,999 for the higher specification model.

Both the Mi A2 and Nokia X6 are excellent devices and offer equally competitive specs for mid-range devices. As to which device to get will probably come down to the availability of each device in India and when it is released.
