HMD Global finally unveiled the Nokia X5 smartphone in China, today. The device turned out exactly as the leaks suggested. The Nokia X5 falls into the mid-range category and it is the second Nokia phone in the X-series to embrace the notch design. For now, the Nokia X5 has only been announced for China, but we can expect the company to bring it out for the global markets soon. Now, after the Nokia X5, we are bound to compare it with the Nokia X6, which was launched a few weeks back in China. Let’s take a look at the differences between these two Nokia X-series smartphones.

Both the Nokia X5 and the Nokia X6 are yet to enter global markets. In China, the Nokia X6 was launched in three variants. The standard variant with 4GB RAM/32GB storage is priced at CNY 1,299 (approx. Rs. 13,800), 4GB RAM/64GB storage at CNY 1,499 (approx. Rs. 16,000) while the 6GB RAM/64GB storage model has been priced at CNY 1,699 (approx. Rs. 18,100). The Nokia X5, on the other hand, is launched in two variants – 3GB RAM/ 32GB storage and 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage, priced at CNY 999 (approx. Rs. 9,999) and CNY 1,399 (approx. Rs. 13,999) respectively.

Concerning design and display, both the phones feature iPhone X-like notched displays. The Nokia X6 comes with a 5.8-inch full-HD+ display at 1080×2280 pixels resolution and 19:9 aspect ratio. The Nokia X5 features a 5.86-inch displ14905,ay with HD+ 720×1520 pixels resolution and 19:9 aspect ratio. The only difference lies in their resolution, wherein the Nokia X6 has a better one.

The phone runs Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box. It supports connectivity options such as 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, USB Type-C port, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The Nokia X5, on the contrary, is powered by MediaTek Helio P60 octa-core SoC paired with 3GB RAM/4GB RAM and 32GB/64GB storage options. The phone runs Android 8.1 Oreo and supports connectivity options such as Dual 4G Dual VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, USB Type-C port, 3.5mm audio jack, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, A-GPS, and FM radio. The storage on the Nokia X5 can also be expanded up to 256GB via microSD card.
Nokia X5 v Nokia X6: Camera Features
Concerning optics, the Nokia X6 comes with 16MP+5MP rear dual camera setup with LED flash, f/2.0 aperture and 1-micron pixels for the primary sensor. The phone features a 16MP selfie snapper on the front geared with HDR support and AI-assisted features such as portrait lighting effects, optimised colour contrast, and more for enhanced image output.
The Nokia X5, on the contrary, sports 13MP+5MP dual camera setup at the rear with f/2.0 aperture and LED flash. There is an 8MP selfie camera with f/2.2 aperture and 80.4 degree angle of view. The rear camera on the X5 is also equipped with portrait mode, HDR mode, and other features.
Clearly, the Nokia X6 wins in this segment with its better camera configuration.

There is not a big price difference between the Nokia X5 and the Nokia X6, at least in China. If both the devices follow similar pricing for India then the Nokia X6 is any day a better deal over the Nokia X5, thanks to its processor, camera, battery, and other specs that stand higher than the configurations on the X5.
