OnePlus is one of the few smartphone brands on the planet that is continuously striving to offer path-breaking technology to its users at an affordable price. The company has been adding even more features with software updates to its phones.
OnePlus 6 units in China have begun receiving the HydrogenOS 5.1.11 update while almost all the devices in rest of the world were stuck with OxygenOS 5.1.8. However, users outside of China have now started receiving the OxygenOS 5.1.9 update. The latest HydrogenOS update brings about a host of new features and improvements which users would definitely cherish. With the release of the new version of the HydrogenOS, a new OxygenOS release looks imminent.
While OxygenOS, the operating system on the global variant of the phone, has received multiple updates, OnePlus is bringing few new features to the HydrogenOS, the Chinese version of forked Android that lacks Google Apps. The company has also started rolling out the OxygenOS 5.1.9 to a few users in markets outside of China. Keep reading to know new features that the updates bring to the OnePlus 6.
OnePlus 6 HydrogenOS 5.1.11 Update: Improvements, Features
In China, OnePlus 6 units were already running on the HydrogenOS 5.1.10 prior to the latest update. The latest update bumped the HydrogenOS version from 5.1.10 to 5.1.11 bringing along with it an array of new features. Multiple users complained about the quick battery drain on the OnePlus 6 smartphones. To address the issue, the company has introduced the new Sleep standby optimization feature which should resolve the excessive battery drain problem.
As the changelog states, the HydrogenOS 5.1.11 which weighs 1879MB brings about major system enhancements. The update also mentions an improvement in the imaging section, it is aimed to deliver camera clarity and also offer improved Wi-Fi stability. The camera clarity update should be done away with the ‘oil painting’ effect which was brought to the OnePlus 5T recently. Also, to keep gamers interested, OnePlus has improved gaming with dual 4G. Also, in the audio department, sound issues while gaming with the microphone on has been fixed. Bluetooth car connectivity is now more stable post the update.

OnePlus 6 OxygenOS 5.1.9 Update: Improvements, New Features
The company has releases the OxygenOS 5.1.9 update to a small set of users, and it will roll out the update for more users in the coming days. The update brings, more or less, the same features to the OnePlus 6 as that of the HydrogenOS 5.1.11 update that has been rolled out in China. With the recently rolled out update, the OnePlus 6 received the July 2018 Android Security Patch as well as general bug fixes and improvements. The update also fixes accidental touches that were triggering gestures on the phone.
The camera on the OnePlus 6 will get even better with the OxygenOS 5.1.9 update, and the company has added the Google Lens mode in the camera app. The Google Lens mode allows users to know what’s in the image, brining information about things like books, products, art, famous buildings, and more. The Beauty Mode has been added for Selfie Portraits, and this might impress a lot of users. Group MMS have also been enabled. The update also improves stability of Wi-Fi connection as well as Bluetooth connection for cars.
After the OxygenOS 5.1.8 had been rolled out, users have been reporting heavy battery drain on their devices. The issue hasn’t been fixed, or at least haven’t been listed as fixed with the OxygenOS 5.1.9 update changelog. Keeping that in mind, we are hoping that the company will address the issue with an update to OxygenOS 5.1.10.
