Everyday tech news brings a new revision of a recharge plan in order to provide cheaper rates, more Internet data, more talk time, more validity, and what not. The tariff war among the leading telecom companies has brought a lot of benefits to the mobile users. Every time mobile network providers have concentrated on giving more data for cheaper costs to lure customers.
And, as a tested and tried method, this strategy has won many subscribers to the mobile networks. Simply put, the agenda has always been about more data at a cheaper cost. But, there is still a part of the population who do not require much data. For that group of the population, BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited) has introduced a special tariff voucher that cost just Rs 19. This STV has promised to offer cheaper voice calls at a validity period of 54 days. The newly launched STV will act as rate cutter that charges much less cost of rates than the standard tariff as per the norm.
BSNL’s Rs 19 STV details:
The government-owned telecom company’s special tariff voucher of Rs 19 is currently launched only to Chennai and Tamil Nadu telecom circles, as of now. This pack is launched as a special promotional offer that will be for 54 days from the day of activation. The STV plan will be offered until October 30 of 2018. These details are furnished in the reports of Telecom Talks. As far as the call benefits are concerned, off-net outgoing calls to other mobile networks apart from BSNL cost 35 paise per minute and on-net outgoing calls to the home network cost 15 paise per minute. This is significantly less when compared to the standard call charges.
It is to be noted that this special tariff is applicable only in the home network and when in the national roaming. They do not hold good in telecom circles of Mumbai and New Delhi, as there is no BSNL service rendered for those areas due to the Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited service offered instead of BSNL. So far, the state-owned telecom network has not spilled any beans on whether it is likely to introduce the same special tariff voucher plan of Rs 19 in other areas of the country.
Other plans of BSNL:
On the other hand, BSNL has also launched a wide range of affordable and reasonable voice calling recharge offers that comes at a cost of Rs 319, Rs 99, and Rs 39. To elaborate, the voice plan of Rs 39 offers validity period of 10 days, Rs 99 voice plan offers validity period of 90 days, Rs 319 offers a validity period of 90 days. To summarise the benefits, these voice plans are offering free, unlimited STD, local, and even national calls without any kind of roaming charges at all. The disappointing factor is that they do not offer any data benefits.
BSNL’s 5G dream:
Recently, BSNL’s Chief General Manager Anil Jain confirms that the country will be soon rewarded with 5G services, which will be provided through BSNL network. He also promised that the 5G service will be launched in India at the same time when the service gets launched in any other country across the globe. The testing of this service is on-going, and many other global operators such as NTT Advance Technologies, Nokia etc. agreed to help BSNL in learning and testing the service to get the system compatible with the 5G network.
