Launching as Android One smartphones, the devices will put rest to all the speculations and rumours after the event today. Much ahead of the global launch event, several leaks and rumours estimating the price and other details of the smartphones have surfaced. The smartphones come as the toned-down versions of the Xiaomi Mi A1 smartphone. The ‘Lite’ variant of the phone has been strongly suggested for months now. Xiaomi has been very careful about revealing any specifications of the two new Mi-Series models this time. This event is expected to be more exciting than the launch event of the Mi Max 3, which was a plain presentation ceremony since all the details were officially out ahead of the event. If you go by the rumours, there are plenty of speculated details that could exist for real in a few hours. The new smartphones are expected to come with multiple options, including the permutations among 3GB and 4GB RAM and 32GB and 64GB of onboard storage options.
The Xiaomi Mi A2 is the Android One certified global variant of the Mi 6X that was launched in China back in April 2018. The Xiaomi Mi A2 will reportedly run Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box and will feature a large 5.99-inch full-HD+ display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. At its heart, the smartphone is rumoured to have powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC, coupled with 4GB of RAM. For optics, the smartphone is expected to come with a dual-camera setup at the back. There could be a 12-megapixel primary sensor and a 20-megapixel secondary sensor – both featuring a f/1.75 aperture, accompanied by an LED flash to capture quality images in poor lighting conditions. On the front, it might be a 20-megapixel image sensor with AI-powered features, including an AI Portrait mode. The device is expected to have 4G with support for VoLTE along with other connectivity options like Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, USB Type-C, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The battery will likely read 3010mAh.
The Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite is going to be a cut-down variant of the Mi A2 and also happens to be the rebranded version of Redmi 6 Pro. The device is expected to sport a similar design which includes a metal unibody design and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. The Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite will be loaded with an octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor which is coupled with 2GB of RAM that ensures a seamless performance and also allows you to work on multiple apps at the same time. The smartphone will be sporting a 5.84-inch Full HD+ display which is slightly smaller than the Mi A2. For optics, the handset will probably house two 12-megapixel sensors at the back designed to shoot quality and detailed shots even in dark conditions. The Mi A2 is also rumoured to come with a dual-colour LED flash to handle low-light conditions. On the front, the Xiaomi Mi A2 is likely to feature a standard 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The battery would be 4000mAh.

The pricing details for both the smartphones is deep under the wraps. However, if you wish to pay heed to the rumours, we have an estimate of their price points. As per a rumoured listing, the Mi A2 was listed for RON 1,400, which is roughly Rs. 24,200 for the 4GB RAM/32GB storage variant and it is RON 1,600 (approximately Rs. 27,600 for the 4GB RAM/64GB storage variant). For the Mi A2 Lite variant, the listing reads RON 1,000, which is roughly Rs. 17,200 for the 3GB RAM/ 32GB storage variant and RON 1,200 (approximately Rs. 20,700 for the 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage).
