Oppo R17 Pro Leak on TV Show, Oppo R17 Specifications Revealed on TENAA
OPPO's upcoming R17 smartphone has been spotted on TENAA website, revealing a few key specs. The smartphone will be joined by the R17 Pro, which has been leaked courtesy of a TV show in China.
A recent leak had revealed that OPPO is currently working on a new R series smartphone, dubbed the R17. More details regarding the upcoming OPPO R17 have now surfaced online as the smartphone has been certified by TENAA in China. In addition to the R17, the R17 Pro has also been leaked in a Chinese TV show, suggesting the successors to both R15 and R15 Pro could be introduced very soon.

OPPO R17: Specifications Revealed Courtesy of TENAA Listing
According to the TENAA listing, OPPO’s upcoming R17 smartphone will carry the PBCT00 and PBCM00 model numbers. In terms of design, the TENAA listing suggests the smartphone will come with a Full-Screen design similar to other smartphones released by OPPO recently. Since the image showing the front of the handset isn’t the brightest, it is hard to tell if the R17 has a notch or not. What seems quite obvious, though, is that the R17 does not feature a fingerprint sensor. This could either mean the smartphone will be equipped with an in-screen fingerprint scanner or it could utilize 3D facial recognition similar to O-Face on the Find X.
As for specifications, the R17 TENAA listing has revealed the smartphone will feature a 6.3-inch sized display, although the exact resolution and aspect ratio still remains a mystery. While we can be fairly certain that the R17 will offer Full HD+ resolution like the R15, we may have to wait slightly longer to find out the aspect ratio of the display. Other than the display size, the R17 TENAA listing tells us the smartphone will be fueled by a 3415mAh capacity battery. Rest of the smartphone’s key specifications, however, are yet to be listed by TENAA.

OPPO R17 Pro: Leaked on Chinese TV Show
The R17 will not be the only R series smartphone that OPPO will be releasing in China soon. Joining the R17 will be the R17 Pro, likely offering a few upgrades over the standard R17. This has been revealed thanks to the R17 Pro moniker being spotted on a Chinese TV show that appears to have been sponsored by OPPO. We aren’t surprised, however, since it was expected that OPPO will roll out successors to both the R15 and R15 Pro smartphones simultaneously.
According to rumors, the R17 Pro is likely to be powered by an octa-core 10nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 chipset under the hood, coupled with 6GB of RAM. The rumor does seem to make sense as the Snapdragon 710 is the logical choice considering the fact that the R15 Pro runs on a Snapdragon 660 SoC. Since the R17 Pro will not be a true blue flagship device, it doesn’t make sense for OPPO to use the Snapdragon 845 chipset. In terms of storage, the smartphone is expected to be available with 128GB of internal storage. Its predecessor, the R15 Pro, also comes with 128GB of onboard storage. For further expansion, the R15 Pro includes Hybrid Dual-SIM slots. At the rear, rumors say the R17 Pro could feature a dual-camera setup with a 16MP primary sensor, similar to the R15 Pro.
OPPO R17, R17 Pro: Expected Launch Date
Since the OPPO R17 has been listed on the TENAA website, we can expect the R17 Pro model to receive the certification very soon as well. Once that happens, OPPO is likely to begin teasing the launch of the two smartphones in China. While no specific release date is available currently, it is being speculated that OPPO might announce the R17 and R17 Pro smartphones at an event in China next month. More details, including complete specifications of the two smartphones, are likely to surface on the web in the coming days.
