Xiaomi Redmi 5A Price in India Starts at Rs.5,999.

Xiaomi unveiled its entry-level smartphone, the Redmi 5A in November, last year. The phone was launched with a tagline ‘Desh Ka Smartphone’ to attribute its ‘Make in India’ manufacturing. It became an instant hit in the Indian smartphone market, thanks to its decent hardware, battery, and attractive design. Now, even after six months of its launch, the phone is selling like a hot cake. If you have been planning to purchase the Redmi 5A, then today is the day when it will be up for sale on Flipkart at 12 PM (noon).

As mentioned above, the phone will be up for grabs on Flipkart at 12 PM and on the Mi Store too, at the same time. Two variants of the Redmi 5A are available in India – 2GB RAM + 16GB storage and 3GB RAM + 32GB storage. It comes in three colour options – Gold, Grey, and Rose Gold.

Redmi 5A: Price in India, Offers

The Redmi 5A price in India starts at Rs. 5,999 for the 2GB RAM + 16GB storage variant and Rs. 6,999 for the 3GB RAM + 32GB storage model. Being a flash sale, Flipkart has limited two units per customer. Buyers with Axis Bank Buzz Credit Card will be eligible for a 5% discount.

Redmi 5A: Specifications, Features

The Xiaomi Redmi 5A (review) packs a 5.0-inch IPS HD screen with 720 x 1280 pixels resolution with 1000:1 static contrast ratio and 296 PPI pixel density. Under the hood, the phone is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC clocked at 1.4 GHz with Adreno 308 GPU clocked at 500 MHz. The phone has 2GB of RAM in the base variant and 3GB of RAM for the high-end variant with 16GB/32GB internal storage, respectively. The Redmi 5A also has a dedicated microSD card slot for further storage expansion up to 128GB. Regarding optics, the Redmi 5A features a 13MP rear camera with an LED flash, f/2/2 aperture, and Phase-detection Autofocus (PDAF). It sports a 5MP selfie snapper on the front with f/2.0 aperture.

Connectivity options on the Redmi 5A include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1 Low Energy, Bluetooth HID, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, and an IR blaster. One feature that the Redmi 5A lacks is a fingerprint sensor, which could be off-putting for some buyers but given its price tag, we think the Redmi 5A packs enough punch. Besides, the phone comes with a 3000mAh battery with system-level power optimization and it is touted by the company to offer up to 7 hours of video playback and 6 hours of gaming. The phone measures 140.4 x 70.1 x 8.35mm and weighs 137 grams.

Redmi 5A: OS Updates, Software

At the time of its launch, the Redmi 5A shipped with Android 7.1.2 Nougat-based MIUI 9 out of the box. However, earlier this year, Xiaomi introduced the MIUI 9.2 Global Stable ROM update, which brings a slew of new features. The Redmi 5A will soon start receiving the MIUI 9.5 Global Stable ROM update that will bring some of the nifty features like quick reply, Notification Shade, and more.

According to us, the Redmi 5A is quite a value for money device that offers decent specs for the users who do not want to spend more than 6K on a smartphone. For the ones who have a budget of over 6K, we suggest them to go for the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 instead that offers better specs and design than the Redmi 5A.
