A few days ago, Corning corporation officially confirmed that Chinese smartphone maker OPPO will be the first one to employ its Gorilla Glass 6 protection for a new device which is slated to launch in the next few weeks. Well, the rumored handset is said to be none other than the OPPO R17, which has been in the rumor mills for quite some time. Now, two new smartphones carrying model numbers OPPO PBEM00 and PBET00 have received the 3C (China Compulsory Certificate) certification in China.
The two handsets certified by 3C could be the OPPO R17 and the OPPO R17 Plus variants, assuming that the OPPO PBAT00 and PBAM00 were claimed out to be OPPO R15s and R15 Neo variants. The details revealed by 3C indeed are scarce at the moment, and the certified phones might even be completely different handsets. If we have a look at the information available regarding the OPPO R17, the smartphone is supposed to employ a smaller and a far different notch, which we have not seen earlier on any smartphone. The device is expected to sport a dual camera setup in a vertical fashion on the back and might have a similar design to that of the recently announced OPPO Find X.
