It looks like the wait for new Moto phones is about to end soon. If things go as hoped, the keenly awaited upcoming launches by Motorola should materialize in China when it is Independence Day in India. Today, a Motorola China handle on Weibo posted a teaser asking Moto smartphone fans to join the company on August 15.

According to the brief text in the poster, new Motorola products will be launched on August 15 in Wuhan, the commercial city in central China. It is likely that Motorola will launch the Moto Z3 Play, the E5 Plus and the Moto One Power smartphones at this event to be held in Wuhan shortly. If you haven’t read up on these phones already, check out the exciting specifications and features these phones are so highly awaited for.

Moto Z3 Play: Specifications, Features, Price in India

The Moto Z3 Play as its name suggests is a gaming-ready smartphone, shipping with a 6-inch Super AMOLED display that Motorola calls Max Vision. The design follows 18:9 aspect ratio while the screen makes a Full HD+ 1080×2160 pixel count. The screen is also protected by a curved 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass, and the device gets a 3,000 mAh battery with Motorola’s TurboPower fast charging. Among other interesting features of the Moto Z3 Play’s design is the fingerprint scanner going on the side part of the body, which has already been appreciated as a smart alternative to the commonplace front or rear-mounting of the scanner.

The phone gets a 12MP+5MP rear dual camera and an 8MP front unit. The rear camera gets Google Lens feature, which provides pop-up information on-the-go about objects you point the camera at, based on Google search.

The Moto Z3 Play runs Android 8.1 Oreo with Motorola’s own gesture navigation. The handset is powered by a 1.8GHz Snapdragon 636 octa-core processor and the graphics processor is Adreno 509. The chipset is supported by a 4GB RAM while the internal storage can be 32GB and 64GB, as available in the US and Brazil.

Since the phone is not yet released anywhere else, we are not sure about its price in India. Based on its pricing in the Brazil and US markets, we guess the phone could be on its way here with a price tag of Rs 30,000.

Moto E5 Plus: Specifications, Features, Price in India

The Moto E5 Plus is available in India and also comes with a 6-inch Max Vision Full HD+ display, but its USP is the solid 5,000 mAh it packs for long sessions of gaming or binging on entertainment. The batter is supported by 10W rapid charging, and Motorola says you can watch videos for 18 hours at a stretch on this handset.

A rear camera is a single-sensor unit with 12-megapixels but it gets laser autofocus and superpixels, while the front camera is a 5MP shooter aided by a flash. The phone runs Android 8.0 Oreo and gets Motorola’s gesture navigation, where you can customise what gestures should control what navigation in your phone’s user interface. It is powered by a 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor that is paired to Adreno 505 GPU and fitted with 3GB RAM. The internal storage is 32GB and can be stretched to 128GB.

The design features a fingerprint sensor hidden inside the M badge on the rear panel, and the rear panel gets a mirror-like finish and a curved shape for easy grip. The phone’s camera dial looks as if it packs two sensors, but there is only one camera sensor there, and there’s an LED flash beside it. The camera also gets phase-detection autofocus, a wide f/2.0 aperture, manual settings mode, and HD video recording.

In India, the phone is available at Motorola’s physical stores or online exclusively at Amazon for Rs 11,999. It comes in Fine Gold and Indigo Black Colours.

Moto One Power: Specifications, Features, Price in India

The Moto One Power is the latest of the three smartphones; it has not been announced officially yet. Based on leaks and speculation, we expect the Moto One Power to sport a larger 6.2-inch Full HD+ display with a 19:9 aspect ratio, with a high pixel density of above 400 ppi. The phone will be launched under the Android One programme, so it will boot Android 8.1 Oreo sans a skin on top.

Powering the device will be Qualcomm’s mid-range Snapdragon 636 octa-core processor clocked at 1.8GHz, with Kyro 260 architecture and Adreno 509 GPU. RAM will be 4GB and 6GB, with a standard 64GB storage model and 256GB expandable via SD card. Camera gear will include a dual rear unit with 12MP primary and 5MP secondary sensors, and an 8MP selfie unit.

Unlike the other two models in this post, the Moto One Power will get a Type-C reversible USB connector and Bluetooth 5.0, with 18W fast-charging support. The fingerprint sensor will be rear-mounted and the battery a 3,780 mAh Li-Ion unit. Black is the only colour it is currently rumoured to launch in.
