Xiaomi Mi Max 3: Specifications, Features

The Xiaomi Mi Max 3 features a humongous 6.9-inch 1080 x 2160 Full HD+ IPS LCD display with 84% NTSC color gamut coverage and 2.5D curved glass layer. Thanks to the 18:9 aspect ratio, the Mi Max 3 is not as big as you would expect. In fact, the Mi Max 3 is comparable to its predecessor when it comes to physical dimensions.

When it comes to performance, the Mi Max 3 is a significant improvement over its predecessor, thanks to a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset running under the hood. Clocked at up to 1.8 GHz, the Snapdragon 636 chipset comes with an Adreno 509 GPU to handle the graphics processing. As we mentioned above already, the Mi Max 3 is available in two memory configurations – 4GB RAM + 64GB storage and 6GB RAM + 128GB storage. Since the Mi Max 3 comes with Hybrid Dual-SIM slots, further expansion may not be an easy affair for most users.

As for optics, the latest budget phablet from Xiaomi features a 12MP + 5MP AI dual-camera setup at the rear and an 8MP snapper on the front. The primary 12MP Sony IMX363 sensor on the back of the phablet boasts 1.4um pixel size, Dual PDAF, and an f/1.9 aperture. You also get AI-powered camera features like portrait mode and intelligent scene detection that is claimed to detect 206 different scenes. The 8MP selfie camera features 1.12um pixel size, an f/2.0 aperture, AI Beautify, AI Portrait, Face Unlock, and a soft LED flash. Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, an IR blaster, USB Type-C, and Dual 4G VoLTE. Apart from the incredibly large display, the other major reason to get the Mi Max 3 is its massive 5500mAh capacity battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 support. The Mi Max 3 also features a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and parallel charging. It measures 176.15 x 87.4 x 7.99mm and weighs in at 221 grams. On the software front, the phablet runs on Android 8.1 Oreo-based MIUI 9.5 currently. It is expected to receive the MIUI 10 in the coming weeks.
