Google only just released the stable version of Android 9.0 Pie for its Pixel devices earlier this week. However, other OEM devices are also starting to get the update to the new Android OS. The Nokia 7 Plus from HMD Global seems to be receiving the update to Android 9.0 Pie in India.

Android Pie has been in the works and was available as a Developer Preview beta for quite some time now. After finally unveiling the name of the OS, Google pushed the stable update to its Pixel line-up as usual. Soon after, the Essential Phone started to get the update.

Nokia 7 Plus: Android 9.0 Pie Update

The Nokia 7 Plus is an Android One device, and Google did say that the Android One devices would be next in line to receive the Pie update. We were just not expecting it to be so soon though, as Google had given a release time of ‘later this fall‘.

A user shared the screenshot of the Pie update to a website, and it confirms that it is indeed true. However, only certain variants of the device are seeing the update. That is normal, as it may take some time for all devices to get the update.

The Android 9.0 Pie update is a new system update, so it is going to be large in size. It features several UI changes, improvements to the battery, AI enhancements, and supports the notch. The update size on the Nokia 7 Plus is about 1173 MB, and the change-log only mentions the most important changes.

As mentioned earlier, the most important new features in Android 9 include, adaptive brightness and battery, easier navigation using gestures, and recommended apps and actions based on your usage.

Android 9.0 Pie: Features

Let us talk about the new features of the latest OS from Google, in brief. With Android 9.0, your phone will become much smarter, thanks to all the AI learning included in the OS. The software will adapt to the smartphone users habits, preferences, and patterns, to provide the best experience from the hardware. Adaptive battery and brightness will look at the most used apps and the preferred brightness levels during different scenarios.

Pie also has an all new gesture based navigation system, that is much easier to use. The back button is only present in certain apps, and the older navigation would be phased out over time. The update includes a new feature called Slice, which will show richer information and actions within Google Search.

Google has included another feature called Well Being, which will help users take care of themselves and use their devices less. It will keep a tab on device usage, include App Timers, and more.
