OPPO’s upcoming mid-range smartphone, the F9 Pro has made another appearance online ahead of its expected launch later this month. The smartphone has been caught on the popular Geekbench benchmark database, confirming the chipset inside and a few other details.

OPPO F9 Pro: Spotted on Geekbench

Listed on Geekbench with the CPH1823 model number, the unannounced OPPO smartphone is expected to be launched as the F9 Pro in India, while in other Asian markets it will likely debut as the simply the F9. As confirmed by previous leaks, the smartphone will be powered by a MediaTek Helio P60 12nm octa-core processor under the hood, clocked at 2.0 GHz. OPPO has coupled the octa-core processor on the F9 Pro with 6GB of RAM, which should ensure impressive multitasking performance. As expected, the F9 Pro prototype runs on the Android 8.1 Oreo operating system. Moving on to the actual scores, the OPPO F9 Pro managed a single-core score of 1481 points and a multi-core score of 5673 points, both of which are quite impressive.

OPPO F9 Pro: Specifications, Features

Unlike the OPPO F7, the F9 Pro will come with a waterdrop notch at the top, much narrower than the notch seen on most mid-range Android smartphones. The display itself is expected to measure 6.3-inches diagonally with 1080 x 2280 Full HD+ resolution and a 19:9 aspect ratio. As mentioned above, the smartphone will be powered by a MediaTek Helio P60 octa-core processor, which also happens to power the OPPO F7 and the budget-friendly RealMe 1 smartphones. In the memory department, the F9 Pro is expected to arrive with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. However, in some markets, the smartphone will be offered in a 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant as well. Similar to the F7, we expect the F9 Pro to come with a dedicated microSD card slot for further expansion.

On the back of the smartphone will be a 16MP + 2MP dual-camera setup with AI-powered features like an AI Portrait Mode. For selfies, the F9 Pro will have an impressive 25MP resolution front-facing camera with an f/2.0 aperture and AI-powered Beauty mode. Connectivity-wise, the OPPO F9 Pro is expected to support Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 4.2 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, FM radio, and 4G VoLTE. Apart from Face Unlock, the F9 Pro will come with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor as well. Keeping the lights on will be a 3500mAh capacity battery, slightly larger than the 3400mAh cell used in the F7. In addition to a larger battery, the F9 Pro will also support VOOC fast charging, a feature that is missing on the F7. You will be able to get 2 hours of talk time by charging the F9 Pro for just 5 minutes. In terms of size, the F9 Pro is expected to measure 156.7 x 74 x 7.99mm and weigh in at 168 grams. It is expected to be available in three colors – Sunrise Red, Twilight Blue, and Starry Purple.

OPPO F9 Pro: Expected Price in India

It is being speculated that the OPPO F9 Pro will be priced close to the Rs.30,000 mark in India. This would mean the F9 Pro will have to take on smartphones like the ASUS ZenFone 5Z and the Honor 10. However, we think it is more likely that the F9 Pro will be priced only slightly above Rs.27,000, which would make it seem like a good upgrade compared to the F9, which currently retails online for under Rs.20,000 for the 4GB RAM variant. The 6GB OPPO F7, on the other hand, is available at Rs.23,990.
