ASUS was a relatively minor player in the India smartphone market till last year. Its ZenFone lineup wasn’t particularly popular among consumers, mainly because they did not offer much value for money, especially when compared to comparable smartphones from Chinese Android OEMs like Xiaomi. ASUS Zenfone Max Pro M1: Price in India, Specifications, Features
The ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M1 is available in three memory configurations in India. Priced at Rs.10,999, the base variant of the budget Android smartphone features 3GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage. Next, there is a the 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant, priced at Rs.12,999. The top-end 6GB RAM + 64GB storage variant is priced at Rs.14,999.
The smartphone features a 5.99-inch IPS LCD display with 1080 x 2160 Full HD+ resolution and an 18:9 aspect ratio, identical to its main rivals. Powering the ZenFone Max Pro M1 is Qualcomm’s 14nm Snapdragon 636 octa-core processor clocked at 1.8 GHz with an Adreno 509 GPU. In terms of optics, the 3GB and 4GB RAM variants feature a 13MP + 5MP dual-camera setup at the rear and an 8MP sensor on the front. On the other hand, the 6GB RAM variant features a 16MP + 5MP dual-camera setup at the rear and a 16MP selfie snapper on the front. Other key features of the smartphone include a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, Face Unlock, 5-magnet speaker with NXP Smart Amp, Dual 4G VoLTE, and a 5000mAh battery with fast charging. In terms of software, the smartphone runs stock Android 8.1 Oreo OS out of the box.
ASUS Zenfone 5Z: Price in India, Specifications, Features
Just like the ZenFone Max Pro M1, the ZenFone 5Z also comes in three memory configurations – 6GB RAM + 64GB ROM, 6GB RAM + 128GB ROM, and 8GB RAM + 256GB ROM. These three variants of the ZenFone 5Z are priced at Rs.29,999, Rs.32,999, and Rs.36,999, respectively.
The flagship ZenFone 5Z sports a 6.2-inch notched Super IPS display with 1080 x 2246 Full HD+ resolution display, 19:9 aspect ratio, and a 90% screen-to-body ratio. Powering the ZenFone 5Z is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 mobile chipset clocked at 2.8 GHz with an Adreno 630 GPU. On the back of the smartphone is a dual-camera setup with a 12MP primary sensor and an 8MP secondary sensor with a 120-degree wide-angle lens. For selfies, the ZenFone 5Z comes equipped with an 8MP snapper on the front with an f/2.0 aperture. Rest of the key highlights include stereo speakers with NXP 9874 Smart AMP, DTS Headphone X, Dual 4G VoLTE, rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, Face Unlock, and a 3300mAh capacity battery with ASUS BoostMaster technology. In terms of software, the ZenFone 5Z runs on Android 8.0 Oreo-based ZenUI 5.0 out of the box.

The ZenFone Max Pro M1 is arguably the best budget Android smartphone on sale in India currently as far as value for money is concerned. It offers superior specifications to all its rivals, including the Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro at a more affordable price point. Similarly, the ZenFone 5Z is the most affordable flagship smartphone on sale in India running on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 chipset. The next most affordable option is the OnePlus 6, which starts at Rs.5,000 higher.
