Huawei’s Honor View 10 (Review) was announced earlier this year and turned out to be a high-end smartphone that won’t burn a hole in your pocket. It is a great phone, with all the features of a flagship device.
When launched, the View 10 came in two RAM and storage configurations. Customers could choose between 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, or 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. Now, Huawei has launched a new variant in China, which comes with 8GB of RAM. The internal storage is still capped at 128GB, but that extra RAM should provide more room for multi-tasking, and improved gaming performance.
Honor View 10 8GB RAM
The Honor View 10, or the Honor V10 as known in China, has been a great success in the country ever since its launch. The phone is also set to get the GPU Turbo update from Huawei, which will make it, even more, faster for gaming use. And now, to improve sales of the phone, an 8GB RAM variant has been introduced.
The 8GB RAM variant of the Honor View 10 will come with 128GB of internal storage and will go on sale on August 14th. The pricing for the device hasn’t been announced, but we don’t expect it to cost much more than the 6GB RAM variant. It comes in 5 color options; Navy Blue, Midnight Black, Beach Gold, Aurora Blue, Charm Red.
We aren’t sure if Honor will release the 8GB variant in India. For now, this remains to be a China-only exclusive, but we will let you know if that changes.
Honor View 10: Specifications
The device will be available to purchase online via JD.com, Tmall, Huawei’s own Vmall, and Sunning. Pre-orders for the phone aren’t available, and you will be able to purchase it directly once it goes on sale.
Like we said earlier, the View 10 is pretty much a flagship smartphone. It comes with a 5.99-inch display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and a Full HD+ resolution. There are no notches here, and the front is protected by Gorilla Glass. The body is made from aluminium, and that gives the phone a premium look.
Huawei has equipped the View 10 with the HiSilicon Kirin 970 octa-core chipset, which is a flagship processor from the company. It’s got an NPU for AI processes in Camera and a Mali-G72 MP12 GPU. The processor is coupled with either 4 or 6GB of RAM, and you get a maximum of 128GB internal storage. A microSD card is present to further expand the storage. And now, an 8GB variant has also been announced.
In the camera department, the View 10 is no slouch. It gets a dual-camera setup at the back, with one 16MP RGB sensor with f/1.8, and another 20MP monochrome sensor. The camera can record 4K video, has a portrait mode, and several AI assisted features. For selfies, the phone has a 13MP camera that also has a portrait mode.
The phone is backed by a 3750mAh battery that supports Super Charge tech for fast charging. A fingerprint sensor is available at the front of the device, along with a physical Home button. So, if you miss a Home button, you can enjoy that with this device. You also get a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a USB Type-C port. Out of the box, the View 10 runs Android 8.0 Oreo with EMUI 8.0 on top.
