Nokia 8110 4G

The Nokia 8110 4G Banana Phone is a blast from the past and has been a huge hit among consumers so far. The original Nokia 8110 phone, which had a sliding mechanism, became famous after it was featured in ‘The Matrix’.

HMD has been rebooting some of Nokia’s most successful devices by adding new features and technology to it. It previously did the same with the iconic Nokia 3310, and now the Nokia 8110. This rebooted phone was showcased at Mobile World Congress earlier this year, and grabbed a lot of attention.

It was recently released in China, where it did exceptionally well. Over 88,000 pre-orders were placed within no time, for the Nokia 8110 4G. It went on sale officially on July 31st, and we’re sure it has sold many more units since then.

And now, HMD Global has announced that the phone will soon be available in UK. According to the company, the phone will officially go on sale on August 15th.

Nokia 8110 4G: UK Price

August 15th isn’t that far away now, just a few more days to go. While Indians celebrate their Independence, the British will be able to buy the Nokia 8110 4G Banana phone. As per HMD, the phone will be sold for £69.99 unlocked.

Interested customers will be able to buy the phone from retailers and carriers such as Vodafone, O2, EE, Carphone Warehouse, Amazon, Clover, Very, and others. The phone is called the Banana phone mainly because of its arched design, and the bright yellow color it is available in. If you don’t like the yellow, you can choose the black variant.

Mark your calendars then, because August 15th is an important day!

Nokia 8110 4G: Specifications, Features

Alright, so, you are feeling all nostalgic and want to get your hands on the Banana phone. But, before you do so, we think you should know a little more about the device.

The Nokia 8110 4G is based on the original Nokia 8110, but is much more advanced and feature filled. It is no smartphone, but it can still do plenty of regular feature phone things. The device comes with a 2.4-inch TFT color display with a 320 x 240 resolution. A T9 keyboard is available, which is covered by a slider. You slide it down to answer calls, and slide up to end calls. And yes, you will look pretty cool doing that in public!

Internally, there’s not much to boast about. It has a dual-core Snapdragon 205 processor, Adreno 304 GPU that’s enough to play Snakes in color, 512MB of RAM, and 4GB of internal storage. A microSD slot is available if you fill up that 4GB of storage with all the pictures you will take. Talking about pictures, there’s a 2MP camera at the back of the phone, with flash. No selfie camera though, sorry.

The phone has a 1500mAh battery, which is pretty good for a feature phone. Nokia says that the phone should last several days with a single charge. It also gets an IP52 drip-protection, which is also nice. You get Dual SIM card slots and yes, the phone supports 4G VoLTE. More connectivity options are indeed available, such as Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth.

HMD Global uses a forked version of Firefox OS, called KaiOS, and this is a good thing. Thanks to this OS, users will be able to use apps such as WhatsApp, Facebook, YouTube, and other Google apps.

So, will you be getting the Nokia 8110 4G once it goes on sale? Let us know in the comments.
