OPPO’s sub-brand Realme in India has made a successful debut in India with the Realme 1 smartphone. The phone turned out to be one of the best selling devices in the mid-range segment in India. Now, in the latest scoop, folks at 91Mobiles have reported that OPPO is prepping to bring out more phones under the Realme 1 in India.
Realme 2 to Launch Very Soon in India
The report states that OPPO’s sub-brand Realme is now focussing on the Indian market and in addition to adding more devices to the catalogue, it will also be introducing new software features on its existing devices. In an interview, Realme’s CEO, Madhav Sheth, stated that the brand is prepping to launch three to four mobiles in India in the FY 2018-19. As expected, this time around Realme will focus on covering both the entry-level and mid-range segment under 20K in India.
Reportedly, the brand will soon be launching the successor to the Realme 1, dubbed Realme 2. In the interview, Sheth hinted that the Realme 2 could debut within a month in India. Fitting into the footsteps of its predecessor, it will also be priced likewise. While the brand’s CEO has not revealed the specs and features of the upcoming phone, we can expect that it will house a better camera. Besides, this time around, Realme may ditch MediaTek processor and opt for a Snapdragon chipset. It needs to be seen though, if it will feature a fingerprint reader or not.
Realme 1: Specifications, Features
The Realme 1 comes with a 6-inch display at 1080X2160 pixels resolution with 78.9% screen-to-body ratio and 18:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by a 2GHz octa-core MediaTek Helio P60 chipset. The phone is available in 6GB/4GB/3GB RAM and 32GB/64GB/128GB of storage. It runs Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box.
Concerning optics, the Realme 1 sports a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and an 8MP camera on the front. Additional features include AI Shot, Vivid mode, and Bokeh mode. A 3410mAh battery backs the device. The only shortcoming on the Realme 1 was the lack of a fingerprint sensor, but the phone does come with a facial recognition feature that is integrated on the software level. This means that one can’t wholly rely on it for safety.
Internal storage on the Realme 1 can be further expanded up to 256GB via microSD card. Connectivity options on the phone include Dual-SIM, 4G with VoLTE support, GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, and a microUSB 2.0. The handset measures 156.5 x 75.2 x 7.8 mm and weighs 155 grams.
Realme 1: Price in India
Regarding pricing, the Realme 1 price in India starts at Rs. 8,990 for the 3GB RAM+32GB storage model, Rs. 10,990 for the 4GB RAM+64GB storage variant, and Rs. 13,990 for the high-end 6GB RAM+128GB storage variant. The phone is up for grabs in Diamond Black, Moonlight Silver (coming in June), and Solar Red colour variants. The Realme 1 rivals Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 and the Redmi Note 5 Pro in India. Now, with the reports on the Realme 2, we can expect OPPO to up the game.
