As rumored, Xiaomi has launched a new special edition Mi Mix 2S smartphone in China. We have been hearing rumors about the company launching a new color variant of the Mi Mix 2S for a few weeks now. Now, the Mi Mix 2S Emerald Green edition has been officially announced in the company, and it goes on sale from August 14th.
This isn’t the first time that Xiaomi has launched a new special variant of the Mi Mix 2S. In May this year, the company released the Mi Mix 2S Art Special edition, which featured an exclusive case in collaboration with the British Museum. This edition came in ceramic black and had 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It also included a card in the case that allowed the owner to enter the British Museum free of charge.
Now, the new Emerald Green Color variant doesn’t have any special cards as such, but the new color is rather elegant.
Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S Emerald Green: Price, Sale
Although Xiaomi hasn’t officially announced the pricing for the Mi Mix 2S Emerald Green edition, we can assume that it will be somewhere around CNY 4299. This is because, the previous special edition phone was also sold at that price, and it is very likely that this new version would also be sold at a similar price.
The phone will be available for purchase via most online retail websites in China, and via the Xiaomi Mi Store as well. The sales will start on August 14th.
Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S Emerald Green: What’s New
In terms of hardware, nothing is new. Except for the 8GB RAM and the 256GB of internal storage. What’s new, is the color, and the Gold accents around the fingerprint sensor and the rear camera module. And, that’s about it.
Xiaomi collaborated with the Dunhuang Research Institute to develop this new color. It is also the first Mi Mix 2S to come with a colored ceramic body. A special box/packaging has also been made for the phone, which features some Jade Art.
The art is based on the Dunhuang murals which depict sky spirits, Chinese dances, and more interesting things about the Chinese culture. The emerald green color is used in most of these murals, and that is what the phones’ color is based on. Therefore, if you are in to the Dunhuang murals, then you should definitely get this special edition smartphone.
Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S: Features
The features of the new special edition isn’t anything different from the original Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S. The phone comes with a 5.99-inch display that has a resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels, and a tall 18:9 aspect ratio. Xiaomi had released this phone in early 2018, and it is successor to the original Mi Mix, which brought the concept of bezel-less phones to life.
In terms of design, the Mi Mix 2S doesn’t differ much from the original Mi Mix or the Mi Mix 2. You get slim bezels on three sides, and a thick chin at the bottom. The Mi Mix 2S was only an internal upgrade to the Mi Mix 2.
It is equipped with the Snapdragon 845 chipset, coupled with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. You get a dual-camera setup at the back with two 12MP sensors. The main 12MP sensor has OIS, an f/1.8 aperture, and a wide-angle lens. The other 12MP sensor is a telephoto lens used for optical zoom. A front camera is available with 5MP resolution, which is placed at the bottom right corner of the front of the device. The phone runs Android 8.0 Oreo with MIUI 9.5 on top, and is scheduled to get the MIUI 10 update soon. It has got a 3400mAh battery, with Quick charge, and wireless charging!
