Ever since the past few months, OnePlus has been heavily investing in its offline expansion plans. It has now opened two new OnePlus Experience Stores in Pune and Ahmedabad, which fall under the category of Tier II cities in India. Previously OnePlus had opened its offline brand stores in cities like Bengaluru, Mumbai and Kolkata.
OnePlus Recording Phenomenal Growth in India
Just like its counterpart Xiaomi, which too entered India with an online first model, OnePlus too has shifted focus to the offline market. So far, OnePlus has received phenomenal success in the country, with the latest IDC report for Q2 2018 clearing revealing that the brand has grown by 284% in the same quarter YoY. OnePlus attributes much of its current success to its recent line up of devices, which includes the OnePlus 6 and the slightly older OnePlus 5T.
OnePlus Experience Stores Now Open in Pune and Ahmedabad
Opening new OnePlus retail stores across the country will help the brand in attracting more eyeballs. As of now, the brand owns a total of six OnePlus Experience stores spread across the country. Among them, two are located in Mumbai, one in Bengaluru, one in Kolkata and the two recently opened stores in Pune and Ahmedabad. The all-new brand store in Ahmedabad is first of its kind in the state of Gujrat. Pune, on the other hand, is located in Maharastra, which already has two existing brand stores in Mumbai. The OnePlus offline store in Pune is located within the Pheonix Market City, whereas that in Ahmedabad is located at 100 Feet Road, Prahladnagar. Both stores will be open for public starting August 11.
OnePlus to Launch 10 More Offline Retails Stores in the Coming Months
With OnePlus opening new offline retail stores at such an exponential rate, we can expect more such Experience stores to crop up in various parts of India ins a few months’ time. The first OnePlus brand Store was opened in Bengaluru. In an interaction with the media, the Chinese OEM has already revealed its plan to launch 10 more retails outlets in the country in the coming days. These offline retail stores will facilitate as a stage for OnePlus to exhibit their latest offering, as well as allow users to get their hands on the device and check them out even before they end up getting one for themselves. OnePlus is expected to showcase its latest smartphones, along with some accessories like the OnePlus Bullets, OnePlus branded cases, chargers, USB cable and much more at the event.
OnePlus, a subsidiary of BBK Electronics, the parent firm behind OnePlus and Vivo; entered India a few years back. It was at that time a primarily online brand, with not a single piece of marketing pamphlets nor full-page newspaper advertisements. The Chinese startup led by Carl Pei and his team was a primarily online brand and depended on popular social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter for popularizing its smartphones. Moreover, it used to follow an invite-only system then, with selected invite holders getting the chance to order the new OnePlus phone.
As the years passed by, the upstart Chinese OEM which started off with its highly popular OnePlus One handset has grown on to become a smartphone brand to reckon with around the world. Its current flagship OnePlus 6 knocks heads with heavyweight flagships like the Samsung Galaxy S9, Google Pixel 2, LG G7 ThinQ and many more. Even then, it manages to outperform its competitors in most of the department, except for, maybe the camera hardware.
The all-new OnePlus Experience touchpoints are expected to further improve the sales of OnePlus devices in the country. India is already a huge revenue generating market for the brand, with over one-third of its revenue in 2018 coming from this highly competitive smartphone market. In addition to opening new retail stores, OnePlus has also committed to opening an R&D center in the country.
