The battle of the flagships is heating up in India with many new great Android smartphones entering the market. With OnePlus and Xiaomi dominating the market, it is often easy to forget the other players that offer valid alternatives. Here we take a look at five of the flagship devices you can buy in India.
Oppo Find X: Price in India, Specifications, Features
First up is the Oppo Find X that is a flagship that offers a premium feel with a metal unibody design. The device has made headlines thanks to its popout motorized mechanism that hides the front and rear camera. The design is the first of its kind to move away from a design that has seen many OEM’s opt for a notch to achieve a bezel-less display. As such, the Oppo Find X is a truly all-screen display that sports a massive 6.42-inch Full HD+ resolution protected by Corning Gorilla Glass. It is powered by a Snapdragon 845 and 8GB so is a flagship in all senses of the word. For storage, the Oppo Find X ships with an onboard storage space of 256GB which is fixed and cannot be expanded. All of this is powered by a 3730mAh battery that will surely last you all day.
The Oppo Find X price in India starts at Rs. 59,990.
Vivo Nex: Price in India, Specifications, Features
The next flagship also has caught the headlines and focus of the tech world with its unique approach to eliminating the reliance on the notch. The Vivo Nex is another flagship device that features a truly all-screen display sporting a 6.59-inch screen which is achieved by creating a motorized mechanism that rises up out of the device when the front-facing camera is needed. This is accompanied by a Snapdragon 845 processor, 8GB of RAM, and powered by a 4000mAh battery. There’s also fast-charge support so there are no concerns that the Vivo Nex will see you easily through a full day of use. In the camera department, there is a dual setup with a 12-megapixel lens coupled with a 5-megapixel sensor that works together to detect and adapt to the shooting conditions.
The Vivo NEX price in India starts at Rs. 44,990.
Huawei P20 Pro: Price in India, Specifications, Features
The P20 Pro made the headlines for all the right reasons and made the world realize that DxOmark went past 100. The 6.1-inch notched Super AMOLED display is one of the best. The handset is powered by an octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 970 chipset which is paired with 6GB of RAM and powered by a 4000mAh battery. The flagship feature that stands out above all other devices is the triple rear camera that sees 40+20+8MP primary sensors and a 24MP front-facing shooter. The three rear-cameras work together to give the best camera performance on a smartphone to date.
The Huawei P20 Pro price in India starts at Rs. 64,999.
LG G7 Plus ThinQ: Price in India, Specifications, Features
If you can overlook the awful name, the LG G7 Plus ThinQ is the company’s flagship attempt with AI bolted on. The device packs a 6.1-inch QHD+ FullVision LCD Super Bright display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The LG G7 Plus ThinQ sports a glass back with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection and is IP68 rated for dust and water resistance and also meets MIL-STD 810G requirements. You’ll get 6GB of RAM and rather disappointing 3000mAh battery.
The LG G7 Plus ThinQ price in India starts at Rs. 39,990.
BlackBerry Key2: Price in India, Specifications, Features
The nostalgic flagship that appeals to one type of user – a person that wants a physical keyboard on Android. While BlackBerry has been out of the game for a while, which means most people have moved on to embrace software keyboards, the Key2 packs some decent specs. You’ll get a 4.5-inch 1080 x 1620 display with 6GB of RAM and a 3500mAh battery. The rear setup is a dual 12-megapixel setup with f/1.8 and f/2.6 lenses, with an 8-megapixel shooter up front.
The BlackBerry Key2 price in India starts at Rs. 42,990.
The clear winner here, for me at least, is the Huawei P20 Pro. The camera combined with the battery leaves the other flagships in its wake. It’s a little bit more expensive than the others and if budget is of concern but you’re still after a flagship then perhaps the Vivo Nex may be better suited.
