POCO F1 India Launch Date Confirmed to be August 22 at Xiaomi Event in New Delhi

POCO India has confirmed its first smartphone to be launched in the country on August 22.

Last month, we told you that the Xiaomi Pocophone F1 will launch in India alongside select other global markets. POCO India today confirmed that its first device, dubbed the F1 will indeed be launching in India the launch event for which has been scheduled for August 22, 2018.

POCO F1: India Launch on August 22

The POCO F1 flagship smartphone will be launched in India on August 22 at an event to be held in capital New Delhi. Since POCO is a new brand and we haven’t heard of any other POCO-branded product just yet, we don’t expect the company to launch any other new product apart from the F1 at the upcoming launch event. POCO F1: Expected Price in India

The POCO brand by Xiaomi is expected to be more value-oriented and the F1 is expected to be the most affordable Qualcomm Snapdragon 845-powered smartphone on the market. Currently, the most affordable Snapdragon 845-powered device on sale in India is the ASUS ZenFone 5Z, which is priced at Rs.29,999 for the base storage variant. We can expect the POCO F1 to undercut the ZenFone 5Z in terms of pricing, which means you can expect it to be priced somewhere around Rs.27,000 in India. Of course, we will need to wait until August 22 to find out the exact pricing as well as other details like availability and launch offers.

POCO F1: Specifications, Features

The POCO F1 is expected to feature a 5.99-inch IPS LCD panel with 1080 x 2246 Full HD+ resolution and a notch at the top. One of the key highlights of the POCO F1 will be the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor under the hood offering flagship-grade performance. While the POCO F1 is not a gaming device it will feature liquid cooling to ensure that the Snapdragon 845 chipset can provide best-in-class performance while gaming or performing other tasks. In the memory department, the smartphone is expected to come with 6GB of RAM coupled with 64GB of internal memory. The F1 will have Hybrid Dual-SIM slots so that users will be able to add a microSD card to expand the storage further.

In the camera department, POCO F1 will feature a 12MP + 5MP dual-camera setup powered by AI features like other smartphones released by Xiaomi recently. Since it is being targeted at affordable flagship smartphones like the OnePlus 6 we can expect the POCO F1 to offer 4K Ultra HD video recording. At the front, the handset will have a 20MP selfie camera with AI Portrait and AI Beautify features. Additionally, the POCO F1 will offer secure facial recognition thanks to integration of IR Face Unlock feature. However, you will still get a fingerprint sensor on the back of the device. Moving on to connectivity, the F1 will support all the latest standards such as Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS (Global Navigation Satellite System), BeiDou, USB Type-C, and 4G VoLTE. Fueling the POCO F1 will be a large 4000mAh capacity cell with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 standard. On the software front, we expect the smartphone to ship with Android 8.1 Oreo-based MIUI 9.5 out of the box. However, it is likely to be updated to MIUI 10 a few weeks after it goes on sale.
