The alleged successor to the X21 from earlier this year had recently passed 3C certification in China. While no new leak related to the X23 has surfaced online yet, Vivo’s Jovi AI assistant has spilled the beans on the smartphone’s launch date in China. In a separate leak, a blurry image showing the X23 with a NEX-like design has also been leaked online.
Vivo X23: Jovi Spills the Beans on China Launch Date
Vivo’s Jovi AI assistant, when asked when the Vivo X23 will be launched, revealed that the X23 will be launched in China on the 20th of this month. While Jovi may actually be accurate, it should be noted that Vivo is yet to confirm anything officially. Vivo has not even started teasing the launch of the X23 yet. Manufacturers usually begin teasing a major launch at least two or three weeks in advance, so we are certainly a little unsure about the August 20th launch date revealed by Jovi.

The leaked Vivo X23 image shows the smartphone will not have a notch at the top. Instead, it features a high screen-to-body ratio with extremely thin bezels on all sides. However, it is not clear if this means the X23 will have a pop-up camera module like the NEX.
Vivo X23: What We Know So Far
Two purported versions of the Vivo X23, carrying model numbers V1809A and V1809T, were recently certified by 3C in China. Sadly, however, the 3C listings for the two models don’t include any key specification or feature. The listings only tell us that the V1809A and V1809T will be shipped with the same power adapter as the Vivo NEX series, supporting 22.5W fast charging.
Going by recent rumors, the Vivo X23 will be available in two versions in China. The more affordable version of the X23 is expected to be powered by a 12nm MediaTek Helio P70 octa-core processor under the hood, clocked at 2.5 GHz with a Mali-G72MP4 GPU handling the graphics processing. While the display size hasn’t been revealed just yet, rumors suggest the smartphone will come with an in-display fingerprint sensor.
The more expensive version of the Vivo X23 is said to feature an in-display fingerprint sensor as well as a 3D facial recognition utilizing Vivo’s TOF 3D Sensing technology. Vivo claims that the TOF 3D Sensing technology is capable of capturing 300,000 different sensor points, which is ten times more than what structured light technology can capture. Even though it is too early to pass a judgment, you can expect the more expensive Vivo X23 variant to boast one of the most secure implementations of facial recognition on any smartphone yet. Under the hood, the higher-end variant will be running on Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 710 AIE 10nm octa-core processor, an impressive upgrade over the Snapdragon 660 chipset powering the Vivo X21.
In the memory department, some rumors suggest the Vivo X23 could be the world’s first smartphone to pack 10GB of RAM. Even if the 10GB RAM rumor turns out to be inaccurate, we expect at least the more expensive version of the X23 to come with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. We also expect to see an improved AI dual-camera setup at the rear, a larger battery with faster charging, and some new software features. As we already mentioned above, there is very little information available on the web currently regarding the X23. Provided Jovi is right with the date, we expect to find out a lot more about the Vivo X23 in the coming days.
