OPPO F9: Top 5 Features You Need To Know About This New OPPO Phone


Chinese handset maker Oppo has announced the F9 smartphone in Vietnam and Malaysia. The company is planning on launching the phone as Oppo F9 Pro in India. However, the F9 is not launching in India at the event. But we can still check out the top 5 features of the new Oppo smartphone before it arrives.

Oppo F9: Unique Rear-Design

There is a diamond-like pattern at the rear panel of the smartphone. When you view it from different angles, you can actually see the device change colors. Speaking of, the smartphone comes in Twilight Blue, Starry Purple, and Sunrise Red.

Oppo F9: Notch Size

The device comes with a notch size of a water drop, hence the company rechristened it the ‘Waterdrop notch’. But the good thing is, it fits right in and actually feels like a part of the smartphone.

Oppo F9: VOOC Charging

The device comes with a support for VOOC flash charging via microUSB. Furthermore, the VOOC tech comes with five layers of protection saving the smartphone from overheating while charging. The company claims that the device can last for 2 hours on just 5 minutes of charge.

Oppo F9: Large Display

The Oppo F9 comes with a big 6.3-inch LTPS IPS LCD notched screen which makes it a great choice for those who love watching videos and playing games.

Oppo F9: AI-assisted Selfie Camera

While there is nothing unique about an AI-powered camera, but the front of the device packs an impressive 25MP selfie-camera, which also comes with an AI HDR that allows you to take perfect low-light shots.

Oppo F9: Specifications, Features

As mentioned earlier, the Oppo F9 comes with a 6.3-inch LTPS IPS LCD notched screen featuring a Full HD+ 2340 x 1080 pixels resolution and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. The screen-to-body ratio of the device is 84.0 percent. There is a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protecting the screen from any physical damage. The phone features a fingerprint scanner placed at the rear. The other sensors onboard are an accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass. Underneath, the phone is powered by a MediaTek Helio P60 chipset clocked at 2.0 GHz paired with 4GB/6GB RAM. As for storage, there comes with a 64GB onboard storage. The memory can be further expanded up to 256GB via a microSD card. The device is fuelled by a 3500mAh battery and comes with a support for VOOC flash charging via microUSB.

For optics, the Oppo F9 features a 16MP+2MP dual camera set up at the back with f/1.85 apertures on both the lenses. The rear camera supports up to 16 scenes and objects recognition. On the front, there is a 25MP AI-powered camera with an aperture of f/2.0 and the AI HDR that allows capturing detail-rich selfies in low-lighting conditions. On the software front, the Oppo F9 ships with Android 8.1 Oreo-based ColorOS 5.2. The connectivity options that tag along with the device include as dual-SIM, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.2, microUSB, 3.5mm audio jack, and USB OTG. The device measures 156.7 x 74 x 8 mm and weighs 169 grams.

Oppo F9: Price in India, Availability

In Vietnam, the Oppo F9 with 4GB of RAM is launched with a price ticket of at VND 7,990,000 which translates to Rs. 23,984. On the other hand, the device has been launched at a starting price of THB10,990 in Thailand which is approximately Rs. 23,241. The company will be launching the Oppo F9 Pro on August 21, 2018. There is no information as to when the Oppo F9 arrives in India. For now, its limited to the South- Asian market including Vietnam, Philippines, Taiwan, Indonesia, and Malaysia.
