Huawei sub-brand Honor’s upcoming budget Android smartphone, expected to debut as the Honor 8X, was certified earlier this month by both TENAA and 3C certification agencies in China earlier this month. The upcoming handset has now cleared EEC certification, hinting at an imminent launch.
Honor 8X: EEC Certification Granted
Unlike TENAA and 3C, EEC listings do not include any interesting information regarding the certified devices. As such, the only relevant piece of information that we find in the listing below is the name of the product – Honor 8X. Apart from the name, the EEC certification also suggests that Honor is almost ready to launch the smartphone and we should expect the company to begin teasing the Honor 8X very soon, at least in China. The smartphone, as you may have guessed already, will succeed the current Honor 7X, which made its debut in China in October last year and was launched in India in December.
Honor 8X: Specifications, Features
According to the smartphone’s TENAA listing, it will arrive with a massive 7.12-inch IPS LCD display with 1080 x 2244 Full HD+ resolution and an 18.7:9 aspect ratio. The images published on the TENAA website also reveal that the Honor 8X will sport a tiny “waterdrop-like” notch design, similar to the OPPO F9. Under the hood, the Honor 8X is expected to be powered by an octa-core processor clocked at 1.8 GHz. While no leak has confirmed the name of the chipset just yet, it is likely that the Honor 8X will be powered by a Kirin 710 chipset, which currently powers the Huawei Nova 3i. In terms of memory, the smartphone is expected to be available in a single memory configuration in China with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. It will likely include Hybrid Dual-SIM card slots, making further expansion possible for some users.
In the camera department, Honor 8X will feature a 16MP + 2MP dual-camera setup at the rear and an 8MP camera on the front for selfies. Just like the latest Honor smartphones, we expect the Honor 8X to come with a host of AI-powered camera features such as an AI Portrait mode, intelligent scene recognition, and more. Connectivity options might include Wi-Fi 802.11 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, and 4G VoLTE. In terms of dimensions, the TENAA listing had revealed the Honor 8X measures 177.57 x 86.24 x 8.13mm and weighs in at 210 grams. While there is no doubt that the Honor 8X is a significantly larger device than the Honor 7X in terms of size, it will still be relatively compact compared to a regular 7-inch Android tablet. On the software front, the phablet is expected to ship with the Android 8.1 Oreo operating system out of the box with the EMUI 8.2 custom UX on top.
Honor 8X: Expected Price in India
Going by the specifications of the Honor 8X, we expect it to be priced at somewhere around Rs.15,000 in India. Even though the device has not been made official yet, we are fairly certain that it will be arriving in India a few weeks after its debut in China.
