Meizu 16, Meizu 16 Plus: Sold Out in a Second in Flash Sale
The Meizu 16 and Meizu 16 Plus smartphones went on sale in China today and thanks to the more than 1 million reservations for the series, they were sold out in just a second. Consumers in China can still pre-order the Meizu 16 and Meizu 16 Plus smartphones on the Meizu website, although the smartphones will be shipped only after 4 to 8 weeks of placing the order. In case a customer is not happy with the estimated delivery time, he/she can apply for a refund. It was recently reported that the Meizu 16 has received 100,000 fully paid reservations and around 1.4 million partially paid reservations. A major reason behind the popularity of the Meizu 16 series is the competitive pricing. The Meizu 16 is currently the most affordable Snapdragon 845-powered from a leading manufacturer in China.
Meizu 16: Specifications, Features
The Meizu 16 features a 6-inch 1080 x 2160 Full HD+ Super AMOLED display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and a claimed peak brightness rating of 430 nits. Unlike most smartphones, the fingerprint sensor on the Meizu 16 is placed beneath the display panel. Powering the flagship smartphone is Qualcomm’s 10nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset clocked at 2.8 GHz with an Adreno 630 GPU. In the memory department, Meizu 16 comes in three configurations – 6GB RAM + 64GB storage, 6GB RAM + 128GB storage, and 8GB RAM + 128GB storage. The smartphone lacks a microSD card slot, so further expansion is not supported.
Moving on to optics, the Meizu 16 has a 12MP + 20MP dual-camera setup at the rear with four-axis optical image stabilization, PDAF + Laser autofocus, 3x lossless zoom, and a 6-LED ring flash. On the front of the Meizu 16 is a 20MP resolution selfie camera with an f/2.0 aperture and AI Face Unlock. Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, USB Type-C, and 4G VoLTE. Fueling the internals of the smartphone is a 3010mAh capacity battery with mCharge fast charging technology.

The Meizu 16 Plus features a larger 6.5-inch Super AMOLED display with 1080 x 2160 Full HD+ resolution and an 18:9 aspect ratio. Just like the Meizu 16, the Meizu 16 Plus also comes with an in-display fingerprint sensor. Under the hood, it runs on an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor with an Adreno 630 GPU. In the memory department, the Meizu 16 Plus is available in three configurations – 6GB RAM + 64GB storage, 8GB RAM + 128GB storage, 8GB RAM + 256GB storage.
In the camera department, the Meizu 16 Plus is equipped with the same 12MP + 20MP dual-camera setup at the rear and a 20MP selfie camera at the front. Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, USB Type-C port, and 4G VoLTE. Keeping the lights on is a bigger 3640mAh capacity battery with mCharge fast charging technology. In terms of software, both the Meizu 16 and Meizu 16 Plus run on Android 8.1 Oreo with the manufacturer’s Flyme OS running on top.
