Vivo X23 has been regularly spotted in several images, but now the successor to Vivo X21 has appeared on a Chinese television program. The TV show presenter cleverly used the smartphone to take multiple photos of the guests, thereby indicating many physical attributes of the supposable large-screen device.

Even as Vivo V11 continues to reveal itself in successive leaks, the successor to Vivo’s first smartphone with under-display fingerprint scanner has started making numerous appearances. The Chinese company’s virtual assistant, Jovi, recently revealed a few details, including the launch date of Vivo’s upcoming high-end device, likely dubbed the X23. Thereafter a blurry image that reportedly showed the device appeared online. An alleged hands-on video followed that that claimed to offer a few more bits of information. Now the supposed Vivo X23 has appeared on a Chinese TV show called ‘Happy Camp’.

The TV show hosts uses the large-screen smartphone to take a group photo of the guests in the series. The confirmation about the name appears at the bottom right of the screenshot that specifically mentions the device is the VIVO X23. Interestingly, the name also has a phrase that states, “AI. Ultra wide-angle photography.” As a proof of the wide-angle ability, the show even reveals the photo. Needless to point out, the photo manages to include the entire group of people and still has ample room to spare on either side.

As clearly seen from the video footage, the Vivo X23 has a stunning near bezel-less display. In fact, it doesn’t even have a standard notch. Instead, the smartphone sports the ‘waterdrop’ notched display. Needless to mention, the design significantly boosts the screen to body ratio. Incidentally, the new Oppo mobile phones, namely the F9 and R17 series smartphones sport similar design. Moreover, even Vivo’s as yet unannounced Vivo V11 also sports the very same design.

Vivo X23: Rumored Specifications

Interestingly, the specifications of the supposed Vivo X23 leaked on Chinese micro-blogging platform Weibo. According to the leaked spec sheet, the X23 will sport a 6.4-inch sized display. The currently available X21 features a 6.28-inch sized AMOLED display. Hence the upcoming X23 may have a slightly bigger display than its predecessor. The display will most likely have a similar Full HD+ resolution and a 19:9 aspect ratio.

A Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 10nm octa-core processor may power the Vivo X23. As compared to the 660 SoC that powers the X21, the new chipset not only offers higher efficiency but also comes with faster AI performance, a Hexagon 685 DSP, and a Spectra 250 dual-camera ISP. In terms of software, we expect the Vivo X23 to launch with the Android 8.1 Oreo-based Funtouch OS 4.0 out of the box.

Incidentally, Vivo is expected to launch two variants of the Vivo X23 and they will have several differences apart from RAM and internal memory.  The base variant of the X23 is expected to include 8GB of RAM. However, it is not yet clear if the more expensive versions of the Vivo X23 will be equipped with 10GB of RAM. In terms of storage, the Vivo X23 could have 128GB of onboard storage. The most expensive configuration might pack 256GB of onboard storage.

Vivo X23: Features

The base version of the Vivo X23 smartphone may have a standard rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. However, the higher variant will feature an in-display fingerprint sensor as well as 3D facial recognition. The device featured on the Chinese TV show seemed to be the expensive variant with in-display biometric authentication.

The only information about the camera hardware currently available is from the TV show, which merely confirms the wide-angle aspect. As believed earlier, the X23 does feature an AI-powered dual-camera setup, and may allow 4K video capture. The leaked spec sheet also suggested the X23 will come with a dedicated DAC for high fidelity audio

Vivo X23: Expected Price in India

Vivo’s Jovi voice assistant recently revealed Vivo X23 will be launch in China on the 20th of August. However, Vivo is yet to release any official X23 teaser yet. Hence the date indicated by Jovi might not be accurate. Still, we expect the Vivo X23 to be made official soon in China.

Although the X23 is still making candid appearances through well placed teasers, and is yet to be officially confirmed, there is a good chance that the X23 will be launched in India a few weeks after its launch in China. We expect the Vivo X23 to be priced under Rs.35,000 in India.
