POCO F1 With 8GB RAM Appears on Geekbench Ahead of Xiaomi India Launch Event on August 22

After the 6GB RAM variant, the POCO F1 8GB RAM variant has now surfaced on the Geekbench database.

Pocophone F1

The first smartphone from Xiaomi’s new sub-brand POCO, dubbed the F1, was spotted on the Geekbench benchmark database last week with 6GB of RAM last week. A new POCO F1 listing has been spotted on Geekbench, revealing a variant with 8GB of RAM.

POCO F1: 8GB RAM Variant Spotted on Geekbench

The POCO F1 listing on Geekbench reveals the POCO F1 will be available with up to 8GB of RAM. While the 6GB RAM variant of the smartphone is expected to be available in 64GB and 128GB storage variants, it is possible that the 8GB RAM variant will be coupled with 256GB of internal storage. Unlike some of its rivals, the POCO F1 is expected to come with Hybrid Dual-SIM slots for further expansion. Apart from 8GB of RAM, the latest POCO F1 listing on Geekbench does not tell us anything new about the device. Just like the 6GB RAM variant, the 8GB RAM variant of the smartphone runs on an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset and Android 8.1-based MIUI 9.5 software. In terms of performance, the POCO F1 8GB RAM variant scored 2451 points in the single-core test and 8998 points in the multi-core test.

POCO F1: Expected Price in India

As reported by us recently, the POCO F1 6GB RAM + 128GB storage variant is likely to be priced at around Rs.25,000 in the Indian market, which would it the most affordable smartphone to be powered by Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 845 SoC in the country. The current most affordable Snapdragon 845-powered smartphone in India is the ASUS ZenFone 5Z, which starts at Rs.29,999 for the 6GB RAM + 64GB storage variant. In addition to the 6GB RAM + 128GB variant, POCO F1 is expected to be available in 6GB RAM + 64GB storage and 8GB RAM + 256GB storage variants. Since the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage variant is tipped to be priced at somewhere close to Rs.25,000, the 64GB storage variant of the POCO F1 will likely cost around Rs.23,000.

POCO F1: Specifications, Features

The Xiaomi POCO F1 is expected to feature a 5.99-inch Full screen IPS LCD display with 1080 x 2246 Full HD+ resolution and an 18.7:9 aspect ratio. Powering the POCO F1 will be a liquid-cooled Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 10nm octa-core processor clocked at up to 2.8 GHz with an Adreno 630 GPU. Even though the POCO F1 is not a gaming smartphone, the liquid cooling design should allow it to deliver a superior gaming experience when compared to at least some of its rivals. As already mentioned, the POCO F1 is expected to be launched in three memory configurations – 6GB RAM + 64GB storage, 6GB RAM + 128GB storage, and 8GB RAM + 256GB storage.

In the camera department, Xiaomi’s “affordable flagship” offering will have a 12MP + 5MP dual-camera setup at the rear, which, at least on paper, does not sound very impressive. For selfies, however, the POCO F1 will have a more impressive 20MP resolution AI camera at the front with AI Portrait, AI Beautify, and AI-powered IR Face Unlock features. In addition to IR Face Unlock the POCO F1 will include a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor as well. Moving on to connectivity, the smartphone is expected to come with Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy, Dual 4G VoLTE, USB Type-C port, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, and NFC. In terms of battery life, the POCO F1 should be slightly more impressive than both the ASUS ZenFone 5Z and OnePlus 6, thanks to a bigger 4000mAh cell. The smartphone will be running on the Android 8.1 Oreo-based MIUI 9.5 software out of the box at launch.
