HMD Global mobile phone company officially launched the Nokia 6.1 Plus in India. The company announced the Nokia 6.1 Plus, and the Nokia 5.1 Plus at an event on August 21. Both these phones are rebranded versions of the Nokia X6, and the Nokia X5, respectively. The Nokia 6.1 Plus, aka Nokia X6, was launched in China in May this year. It is a mid-range smartphone from Nokia, and the first Android One phone from the company that comes with a ‘notch’.

The Nokia 6.1 Plus is priced at Rs.15,999 and will go on sale via Flipkart on August 31. The Mi A2 and the Redmi Note 5 Pro are already available for sale in India. The Mi A2 is priced at Rs 16,999, while the Redmi Note 5 Pro starts at Rs. 14,999.

In terms of design, we would have to pick the Nokia 6.1 Plus here. It has the most latest designs, with a notch at the front, and a glass body protected by Corning Gorilla Glass. It is the best-looking device out of the three. The phone comes with a 5.8-inch LCD display with Full HD+ resolution and 19:9 aspect ratio.

As of now, the Mi A2 is also available with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, but a variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage will be available soon. The Note 5 Pro, on the other hand, gets up to 6GB of RAM, and 64GB of internal storage. A microSD slot is available on both the Nokia 6.1 Plus, and the Redmi Note 5 Pro, but the Mi A2 lacks it. The Mi A2 also lacks a headphone jack.

When it comes to the camera, the Mi A2 is going to be the winner here. It features a 12MP+20MP dual-camera setup at the back, and a 20MP selfie camera. It can shoot 4K videos at 30FPS, and takes pretty good photos thanks to its HDR mode.

The Nokia 6.1 Plus gets a 16MP+5MP dual camera setup, and the Redmi Note 5 Pro comes with a 12MP+5MP setup at the back. On the front, you get a 16MP camera, and a 20MP sensor on the Note 5 Pro.

If you are looking for a phone with a bigger and a long-lasting battery, then Redmi Note 5 Pro is your phone. The device comes with a 4000mAh battery that should easily last two days on normal usage. The Nokia 6.1 Plus has a 3060mAh battery and supports Quick Charge 3.0, while the Mi A2 has a 3010mAh battery with support for Quick Charge 4.0.

Software-wise, both the Nokia 6.1 Plus and Mi A2 run on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. These are Android One devices, and will also get Android 9.0 Pie quicker than some other devices. The Redmi Note 5 Pro also runs Android 8.0 Oreo after the most recent update, but uses the MIUI 9.5 skin.

Well, the pricing between the three isn’t that different, and even the features are pretty similar. If you want a good camera and stock Android with fast updates, then go for the Mi A2. The Nokia 6.1 Plus is the best looking device here, and also quite capable, but lacks in terms of camera and battery. Overall, we think the Xiaomi Mi A2 wins in the comparison.
