Popular smartphone maker OPPO unveiled its newest R series smartphones, R17 and R17 Pro at an event held in China recently. Both smartphones feature a water drop notch, an in-display fingerprint sensor, and are the first phones to feature Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection. While the R17 Pro is expected to remain exclusive to the Chinese market, many of the key features of the handset are expected to be part of the next OnePlus flagship, likely dubbed the OnePlus 6T.
OPPO R17 Pro: Will the OnePlus 6T be Based on The Latest OPPO Smartphones?
The current OnePlus 6 is based on the OPPO R15 Pro, which was announced in March this year. Both smartphones have a 6.28-inch AMOLED Full HD+ display with a 19:9 aspect ratio, 16MP + 20MP dual-camera setup, and a very similar design. Not everything is identical, though. In the same way, the upcoming OnePlus 6T is expected to borrow some key features from the R17 Pro, although it will have at least a few distinguishing features to set it apart from the OPPO handset. We can expect OnePlus to use the same 6.4-inch AMOLED display with a water drop notch design, along with the triple-camera setup at the rear. The R17 Pro is the first smartphone to come with a TOF (Time of Flight) 3D stereo camera on the back. Since the OPPO R17 Pro will not be sold outside China, the OnePlus 6T could be the first globally available smartphone to come equipped with a 3D depth-sensing rear camera module. The primary camera, on the other hand, could feature a variable aperture, similar to the Samsung flagship devices. Another key feature that we are hoping to see on the OnePlus 6T is an in-display fingerprint sensor, which is among the key features of the OPPO R17 Pro.
