Infinix Note 5, an aggressively priced Android One smartphone, will have its first sale today on Flipkart. Meanwhile, the affordable, yet capable Honor Play smartphone will be available on Amazon.

Hong Kong-based smartphone maker Infinix recently launched Infinix Note 5, a smartphone that adopts the productivity-focused Note-class moniker. Given the pricing, the smartphone doesn’t challenge any iteration of the Samsung Galaxy Note-series devices. Instead, the handset challenges popular note smartphones from Chinese brands such as the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5. Incidentally, handset doesn’t sport the notch display. But it does come with AI-optimized features including camera tweaks and power optimization. It will be available on Flipkart starting today.

While the aggressively priced Infinix Note 5 is available on Flipkart, Huawei’s sub-brand is offering interested buyers yet another opportunity to grab the highly popular Honor Play smartphone. The much-sought-after handset packs Huawei’s flagship Kirin 970 chipset, artificial intelligence, and benefits from the GPU Turbo feature. The Android phone neatly fits into the affordable price bracket and yet offers flagship-grade performance. Buyers will get another chance at buying Honor Play smartphone at 12PM today.

The Infinix Note 5 smartphone will go on sale starting today for Rs 9,999. It is a Flipkart exclusive device. The handset is available in Berlin Gray, Ice Blue, and Milan Black colors. The device carries a sticker price of Rs. 10,999. Flipkart is offering a Rs. 1,000 instant cash discount. Buyers with Axis Bank Buzz Credit Card will be eligible for a 5 percent discount.

The smartphone is eligible for No Cost EMIs from HDFC Credit Cards starting at just Rs. 1,111 per month. Buyers using ICICI Bank Credit Cards, and paying through the EMI option, can avail a 5 percent discount as well. The smartphone is also eligible for Rs. 2,200 cash-back as well as and 50GB additional 4G data on the Reliance Jio network.

The Honor Play will go on sale on Amazon India today at 12PM. The sale comes with limited stocks. There is a ‘Notify Me’ option currently put up on Interested buyers can sign up to be requested for a notification before the sale commences. The smartphone is available in two color options; Navy Blue and Midnight Black.

Owing to the appealing specifications and capable hardware, the Honor Play is often listed as ‘Out of Stock’ on Amazon. However, the base variant of the smartphone with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory carries a sticker price of Rs. 19,999. There are no discounts on the sticker price of Honor Play. But buyers get 10GB additional 2G/3G/4G data for using a Vodafone prepaid or postpaid SIM card with every new purchase.

The Infinix Note 5 sports a 5.99 inches screen with Full HD+ resolution. The handset has a full notch at the top and a chin at the bottom. Still, it achieves 85 percent screen-to-body ratio with the Full View display. On the back of the device is a smooth and premium-looking glass finish that comprises of 10-layer coating of nano-chrome particles that reflect light.

A Mediatek Helio P23 octa-core processor, clocked at 2.0GHz, powers the smartphone. It is available in a single 3GB RAM and 32GB internal memory variant.

For imaging, the smartphone has a single-sensor 12MP camera on the back, and a 16MP front shooter. The selfie camera is optimized for low-light photography and gets a wide f/2.0 aperture plus AI support. It has a 4-in-1 pixel technology and soft light flash for clear portraits, it also offers AI Bokeh effect, along with AI Beauty mode that continually optimizes itself.

The Infinix Note 5 packs a large 4,500mAh battery pack. Infinix claims the battery, which supports 18W Fast Charging, an keep the device going for a full three days. Artificial Intelligence helps in battery optimization as well. The 18W fast charging can power the device for a whole day of use in just 30 minutes.

Along with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, the Infinix Note 5 smartphone also has dual Nano SIM support with VoLTE, and a third slot for micro-SD card, Bluetooth 4.2, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n, but no NFC or Type-C USB. The handset weighs 175 grams. Interestingly, the Infinix Note 5 is an Android One smartphone, and runs stock Android 8.1 Oreo.

The Honor Play features a FullView 6.3-inch LCD with 19.5:9 aspect ratio and 1080×2340 Full HD+ pixel resolution. Also, owing to a very narrow notch, the smartphone boasts of an impressive 83% screen-to-body ratio. The smartphone comes in two configurations: 4GB RAM + 64GB storage and 6GB RAM + 64GB storage. There’s a hybrid SIM card tray for memory expansion.

A powerful Kirin 970 octa-core processor clocked at 2.4 GHz powers the smartphone. The CPU works with a Mali-G72 MP12 GPU. Also, there’s a dedicated NPU for AI features. Essentially, the Honor Play appears to be a great budget Android gaming smartphone.

The Honor Play packs a dual camera setup on its back. It consists of 16MP + 2MP sensors. Also, on the front is a 16MP single sensor for selfies and video calls. The Honor Play is also capable of capturing 4K footage at 30FPS.

A fingerprint reader at the back of the device is able to unlock the smartphone instantly. A 3,750mAh battery powers the Honor Play. Also, it supports Fast Charging as well. Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 4.2 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, NFC, USB Type-C, and Dual 4G VoLTE. The smartphone runs on Huawei’s EMUI 8.2 (Android 8.1 Oreo-based) operating system.
