Razer Inc, a gaming hardware company based out of Singapore has confirmed its second-generation smartphone, aka the Razer Phone 2. The Razer Phone 2 would cater the needs of mobile gamers similar to the Razer Phone. Also, the Razer Phone looked a lot like the Nextbit Robin which wasn’t a surprise since the phone was introduced just after Razer’s acquisition of Nextbit.
Razer Phone 2: Expected to feature Snapdragon 845 SoC
While the Razer Phone made its mark with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset, it’s a high possibility that the Razer Phone 2 could feature a Snapdragon 845 chipset. Snapdragon 845 is the company’s latest SoC which is intended to offer a flawless and lag-free smartphone experience. As Qualcomm generally announces its latest mobile processors towards the end of the year, it wouldn’t be surprising to us if the Razer Phone 2 packs in a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC. But that is still a speculation and is something that only time will tell.
Razer Phone 2: 120Hz Display and Other Specifications
The 120Hz display on the Razer Phone is still a standout feature of the device and it seems like a no-brainer that the Razer Phone 2 would offer this screen tech too. Only the iPad Pro shipped with similar specifications. The 120Hz refresh rate makes the display buttery smooth which is touted to satisfy the game lovers. The Razer Phone was the first dedicated gaming smartphone which was later followed by the Asus ROG Phone. The Razer Phone 2 falls in the same bracket with eyes set on the gaming-crazy population.
While other specifications are still unknown, it can be safely concluded that the Razer Phone 2 will ship with top-of-the-line hardware as its predecessor was praised for offering a display with 120Hz refresh rate, a large 4000mAh battery, and loud dual front-facing speakers.
Razer Phone 2: Expected Launch Date and Pricing
The exact date of the launch has not been revealed by the company but during the annual ChinaJoy Digital Entertainment Expo & Conference, Chen Xiaoping, who is the Vice President of Razer, stated that a new phone should be available in China by December 2018. This also means that a global launch should be happening by the end of this year. Chen also added that the Razer Phone 2 will pack the latest chipset. The Razer Phone was launched with a price tag of $700 which was a bit on the higher side but hopefully, Razer will be able to maintain an acceptable price when it announces its successor later this year.
