Mi 8 Youth, Screen Fingerprint Edition: What to Expect

As far as the specifications of the two smartphones are concerned, our source hasn’t provided us with any details. However, going by the name, the Mi 8 Youth will likely be a more affordable version of the Mi 8 with slightly inferior specifications. While the Mi 8 runs on an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset under the hood, the Mi 8 Youth Edition will probably be powered by a Snapdragon 710. Xiaomi already has a Snapdragon 710-powered Mi 8 series smartphone on sale in China – Mi 8 SE. The camera hardware, on the other hand, is rumored to be identical to the Mi 8 and Mi 8 Explored Edition.

As is quite clear from its name, the Mi 8 Screen Fingerprint Edition will feature an in-display fingerprint sensor, similar to the Mi 8 Explorer Edition. The rest of its key specifications, however, are expected to be identical to the Mi 8. The standard Mi 8 features a 6.21-inch notched AMOLED display with 1080 x 2248 Full HD+ resolution and an 18.7:9 aspect ratio. As we mentioned above, the Mi 8 runs on an octa-core Snapdragon 845 processor clocked at 2.8 GHz with an Adreno 630 GPU. The flagship smartphone features a 12MP + 12MP dual-camera setup with 4-axis optical image stabilization and 2x lossless zoom. For selfies, the Mi 8 features a 20MP resolution snapper with an AI Portrait Mode and IR Face Unlock. Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, NFC, USB Type-C port, and Dual 4G VoLTE. Fueling the Mi 8 is a 3400mAh capacity battery with Quick charge 4+ support. In terms of software, the Mi 8 Youth and Mi 8 Screen Fingerprint Edition are expected to run on Android 8.1 Oreo-based MIUI 9 out of the box.
