We recently shared some news regarding a new LG Q series smartphone. The LG Q9, the specifications for which were leaked recently, has now appeared on the interwebs showing its face. A new leaked image showing the front face of the smartphone has been posted online.
LG had recently released the Q8 (2018), an upgraded version of last years device. This is a mid-range smartphone, and going by the leaked specifications of the LG Q9, this will be a mid-range device as well. Late last month, the Korean manufacturer also released the LG Q7 in India.
LG Q9: Hands-On Leak
In the leaked image above, we can only see the front of the device, but that’s sufficient for us. The first thing you will notice, is the absence of a notch. Yes, the LG Q9 doesn’t have a notched display. However, it does seem to have a tall aspect ratio, most likely 18:9. It’s got fat chins on the top and bottom, and rounded corners all around.
The display, since this is a mid-range smartphone, is most likely a Full HD+ panel. The power button is on the right, and the volume buttons are located on the left. The fingerprint sensor, not seen in the picture, should be at the back.
Pricing for the device isn’t know, and nor is the launch date. We expect LG to launch the Q9 towards the end of this year, and price it around Rs. 20,000. The LG Q8 should also be launched very soon in the country.
LG Q9: Specifications and Features
According to the leaked specifications, the LG Q9 will feature a Snapdragon 660 processor, which would be coupled with up to 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of internal storage. You can expect two variants of the phone to be available. The Snapdragon 660 is a powerful mid-range chipset, and is also found in the new Xiaomi Mi A2. The LG Q9 then, will have some good competition once it hits the market.
The display size isn’t known yet, but by looking at the image, we reckon it would be bigger than 6-inches. The LG Q8 2018 was announced with a 6.2-inch display, therefore, the Q9 should either have a similar size display, or slightly larger. It will obviously have a Full HD+ resolution, and a tall 18:9 aspect ratio, as well. The phone should also feature a microSD card slot for adding more storage.
In the camera department, we expect the LG Q9 to feature a dual lens setup at the back. Probably a duo of 13MP + 5MP or something of that sorts. The front camera could be 8MP in resolution, and will most likely support Face Unlock feature. There haven’t been any leaks regarding this, so we cannot say for sure. What we do know, is that the phone will come with a 3550mAh battery. Hopefully, LG will also include quick charge support for fast charging.
Finally, the phone will come with Android 8.1 Oreo on board, but with LG’s custom skin on top. Apart from these leaked features, we also believe that the Q9 would include IP68 water and dust rating, MIL-STD 810G rating, and a 32-bit Quad DAC. You can also expect the phone to come with a 3.5mm headphone jack, a USB Type-C port, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, NFC, and 4G VoLTE.
