Acer has launched four new laptops at the CES 2019 event; the Swift 7, TravelMate X3410, Predator Triton, and the Chromebook 315. These four laptops come in multiple configurations. Let us have a look at what these laptops have to offer.

Acer Swift 7

Acer Swift 7

The Acer Swift 7 already had a thin chassis and a lightweight design. The new Acer Swift 7 takes the design game even further. The new variant of the popular Swift 7 has extremely thin bezels around its display, giving it a whopping 92% screen-to-body ratio. As you can see in the image, the new Acer Swift 7 looks extremely compact and futuristic. The laptop features magnesium-lithium and magnesium-aluminum body, giving it the tough durability of the metal body, and the light weight of a plastic body. The laptop weighs just 890 grams making it one of the lightest Windows-based laptops in the market.

However, the slim and lightweight design of the Swift 7 comes at a cost. Unlike most Core-i7 based laptops, which feature 8550U variant processor, the Swift 7 comes with a less powerful, 8500Y processor. Acer has opted for 8500Y processor instead of the 8550U processor because the former has lower TDP and therefore it does not require a fan for cooling. Acer was able to make the Swift 7 this thin because the brand did not have to put a fan inside the laptop. The 8500Y has two CPU cores and 7W TDP, whereas, the 8500U has four cores and 15W TDP. As the 8500Y has half the power than the 8550U, expect it to be ideal only for light tasks.

The Acer Swift 7 has a Full HD non-touch display. The laptop can be configured with up to 16GB LPDDR3 RAM and 512GB of PCIe SSD. Acer is claiming the Swift 7 to deliver 10 hours of battery backup. For wired connectivity, the Acer Swift 7 has a two USB Type-C ports with Thunderbolt 3 standard, a DisplayPort 1.2, and a 3.5mm audio jack. For wireless connectivity, the laptop has Wi-Fi ac with 2×2 MIMO, and Bluetooth v5.0. The Acer Swift 7 also offers Windows Hello based fingerprint scanner that is placed on the left side of the keypad. The Acer Swift 7 will start at $1700, and it will be released in May this year.

Acer TravelMate X3410

The Acer TravelMate X3410 is another new laptop from the brand. It features a 14-inch IPS LCD with Full HD resolution. Unlike the Acer Swift 7, the X3410 has fairly thick bezels around the display. The laptop comes in three variants. The base variant has Core-i3 8130U processor, 8GB of DDR4 RAM, and 128GB SATA SSD. The middle variant has a Core-i5 8250U processor, 8GB of DDR4 RAM, and 256GB SATA SSD. The top of the line variant has Core-i7 8550U processor, 16GB of DDR4 RAM, and 512GB SATA SSD. There is no option to go for an M.2 NVMe storage.

The Acer TravelMate X3410 features two USB 3.1 Type-A ports, One USB 3.1 Type-C port, one HDMI port, one VGA port, a full-sized SD card reader, and a 3.5mm audio jack. As you might expect, there is Wi-Fi ac and Bluetooth for wireless connectivity. Acer claims that the laptop can provide up to 15 hours of battery backup. Acer is also shipping the laptop with faster than usual, 65W charger for fast battery refill. The Acer TravelMate X3410 starts at USD 899. The availability of the laptop is still unknown

Predator Triton

Acer has launched two Predator Triton gaming laptops, the 900 and the 500. The Acer Predator Triton 900 is the large and expensive variant, whereas, the Predator Triton 500 is a less expensive and a more compact variant.

The Acer Predator Triton 900 is a high-end gaming laptop. It has a 17-inch IPS LCD with touchscreen support, 4K resolution, and Nvidia G-Sync. The coolest feature of this laptop is its 180-degree rotating display. According to Acer Users can switch between four usage modes: Display mode for sharing the screen with friends during gaming sessions, Ezel mode for playing games on the touch screen, notebook mode for traditional gaming scenarios, and stand mode — effectively turning the Triton 900 into a tablet for gaming or using creator tools. The Predator Triton 900 can be configured with up to six-core Intel Core-i7 processor, 32GB of DDR4 RAM, and 1TB of PCIe SSD.  The laptop comes standard with RTX 2080 graphics. The Acer Predator Triton 900 will start at $3,999 in North America, €4,199 in EMEA, and  ¥39,999 in China. It will begin shipping from March in these three regions.

The Acer Predator Triton 500 is a less expensive version of the Triton 900. That being said, it is still a high-end gaming laptop price-wise. It has a 15-inch display with 144Hz refresh rate and Nvidia G-Sync. Acer says the screen has 300 nits brightness. The Acer Predator Triton 500 misses out of the convertible display design of the Triton 900, but it retains most other features from its expensive sibling. The laptop can be configured with up to six-core Intel Core-i7 processor, 32GB of DDR4 RAM, and 1TB of PCIe SSD. For graphics, you can choose between RTX 2060 and RTX 2080. The Acer Predator Triton will start at $1,799 in North America, €1,199 in EMEA, and ¥16,999 in China. The laptop will be available starting February this year in North America and EMEA, whereas, it will be available starting January in China.

The laptop can be configured with up to 8GB of RAM. There are two USB 3.1 Type-C ports, two USB 3.1 Type-A ports, Wi-Fi ac with 2×2 MIMO, and Bluetooth v5.0. According to the press release, the Chromebook 315 will be available from February 2019 at a starting price of $279 in North America, and from April at a starting price of €349 in EMEA.
