The Acer Predator Helios 500 gaming laptop has been launched in India, bringing the mini LED display technology to the realm of gaming laptops in Acer’s portfolio in the country. Acer claims “desktop calibre” gameplay on the Helios 500, which really is not surprising given the eye-watering price tag that it has been launched at. You of course get pretty much everything that you can imagine from a gaming laptop, including an elaborate cooling system and a key mechanism that can be actuated based on the pressure you need to apply – depending on the game that you’re playing.
Acer Predator Helios 500: price and availability
Without any further ado, the Acer Predator Helios 500 costs a whopping Rs 3,79,999 in India. If you are okay with this, the Helios 500 can be purchased from Acer’s own online store, any e-commerce portal and offline Acer stores.
The Acer Predator Helios 500 features an 11th gen Intel Core i9 processor, which can be boosted up to 5.01GHz. Graphics duties are taken care of by the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 with 16GB GDDR6 VRAM, making this laptop among the most powerful gaming laptop setups that you can buy. Performance duties are further taken care of by 64GB DDR4 RAM, and two PCIe slots for SSDs as well as one SATA slot for an HDD give expandable storage choices.
One of the key takeaways of the Predator Helios 500 gaming laptop is its display, which uses a mini LED display panel. The panel enables the laptop to feature 512 backlight zones, giving it a wide range of colours and contrast areas on the display. It offers 4K resolution, along with 120Hz refresh rate.
The laptop features Acer’s Vortex Flow cooling mechanism with what it calls an ‘AeroBlade 3D’ cooling fan. The keyboard features MagTek mechanical switches, which allow gamers to actuate pressure on the keys between 0.8mm and 3.1mm – something that allows them a joystick-like haptic gaming experience from the stock keyboard itself. For RGB LED fanatics, it also has per-key RGB LED lighting.
Connectivity wise, the Helios 500 features one HDMI 2.1, one mini-DisplayPort 1.4, two USB-C with Thunderbolt 4, three USB-A 3.2 Gen2, an Ethernet port, and Wi-Fi 6.
