In a span of just 10 days, the three three major telecom operators in India 一 Airtel, Vi (Vodafone Idea), and Jio hiked their prepaid recharge plan tariffs and took users by surprise. Airtel and Vi prepaid plans are now hiked by up to 25% and starting December 1, Jio users will also have to spend more on prepaid plans.
This move by telecom operators gained a lot of traction on the social media platform, Twitter. Understandably, many customers expressed both disappointment and anger against the price hike. But, as expected, there were plenty of funny tweets and memes surrounding the same, with several users suggesting that customers port to the state-run telco BSNL. These were some of the tweets we found to find on the platform. As you can see, many users now want to move to BSNL as the trio have increased the tariff plans, but will they port out from Airtel/Vi/Jio and move to BSNL? Only time will tell.
To refresh, Airtel’s and Vi’s new prepaid plans now start from Rs 99 instead of Rs 79. On the other hand Reliance, Jio starts at Rs 91 now instead of Rs 75. Similarly, popular 28 days play which offers 1GB data per data and unlimited calls now cost Rs 265 on Airtel, Rs 269 on Vi and 239 on Jio (1.5GB/day). Lastly, another popular quarterly plan, which offers 1.5GB per day costs Rs 719 on Airtel and Vi and it costs Rs 666 on Jio.
