Amazon has recently celebrated its fifth anniversary of introducing Alexa in India. The US-based e-commerce giant had announced an anniversary sale that offered up to 60% discount on Alexa and Alexa-integrated products. The company wants to increase the influence of Alexa in the daily life of Indians. Alexa integration is already live for many smartwatches, cars, lights, and speakers. Amazon India has announced the launch of its new Echo Dot 5th Gen. The company has set the introductory price of the Echo Dot at Rs 4,999. They claim the new product is their best sounding one and brings better audio, Ultrasound Motion Detection, temperature sensor, and tap gesture controls.
Echo Dot 5th Gen: Price, Availability, and Specifications
The product will be offered with introductory pricing in India between March 2nd and March 4th. Amazon has set the regular price of the product at Rs 5,499. Apart from Amazon, the product will be available at online and offline stores of Croma, Reliance Digital, Poorvika, and others.
The introductory pricing is part of Alexa’s fifth-anniversary celebrations and ongoing anniversary sale. Amazon has launched the Echo Dot 5th Gen in Black, Blue, and white options. Due to the redesigned audio architecture, the new Echo Dot offers better vocals and deeper bass than the previous generations. The brand also claims its Echo Dot is its bestselling smart speaker.
Amazon has let its users use their voice and ask Alexa in English, Hindi, and Hinglish. Alexa can play music, jokes, and games, control smart home appliances, set timers, add items to lists, create reminders, pay bills, and more. The ultrasound motion detection helps customers to set up their Echo Dot to turn compatible lights automatically while detecting motion.
The motion-detecting sensor can also play music when someone enters the room. The ambient temperature sensor can set up smart home routines to automatically switch on compatible AC when the temperature rises. Amazon also includes support to turn off compatible AC when the temperature decreases. The feature will help the users to sleep peacefully without any disturbances.
The accelerometer helps users to tap to pause or resume music and snooze alarm using new tap gesture controls. It can also be used to dismiss timers or Alexa-to-Alexa calls. One of the significant highlights of the product is that it is still in the same size and spherical form factor as its previous generation. Alexa supports streaming music from Hungama, Spotify, JioSaavan, Amazon Prime Music, and Apple Music Customers.
It also supports streaming music from customers’ smartphones using Bluetooth. An AZ2 Neural Edge processor powers the new Echo Dot 5th gen. The chipset helps Echo Dot to integrate more experiences to be processed on edge. It also allows the Echo Dot 5th gen to process Alexa responses faster and tap gestures.
