Amazon Great Indian Festival sale is now underway for Prime members and tonight, the sale will be open to all shoppers. Ahead of the sale, it looks like Amazon has announced a new tier of Amazon Prime for shoppers. Currently, Amazon Prime costs Rs 1,499 in India and for this price, Amazon offers benefits such as the Amazon App bringing benefits free delivery, fast delivery, exclusive offers, and early access. In addition to this, the subscription also offers access to Amazon Prime Video and Prime Music.

Apart from this, the company also offers a Rs 599 plan, which offers Prime Video access on the phone. Now, the company has silently announced (via MoneyControl) a new shopping-only plan called the Amazon Prime Shopping Edition. Let’s take a look at the Amazon Prime Shopping Edition plan in detail.

Amazon Prime Shopping Edition: Price in India

Amazon Prime Shopping Edition subscription is priced at Rs 399 in India. This cost is for a year and as of now, the subscription seems to be available for a few users only. We did try to search for the Prime Shopping Edition on our account, but we were not able to find the same at the time of writing this article. Based on the report from MoneyControl, here is what the Prime Shopping Edition will pack in.

Amazon Prime Shopping Edition: Benefits

  • 24-Hours early access to deals with Festive offers
  • Unlimited free 1-day delivery on 40+ lakh+ items
  • Early access to shopping events
  • 5% cashback on Amazon Pay ICICI Credit Card

While these are the benefits that the company is offering with the new plan, the Amazon Prime Shopping Edition plan misses out on Prime Video and Prime Prime Music as these two subscriptions would not be bundled with this shopping-focused plan.

Further, the new Prime Shopping Edition is said to be exclusive for Android devices only, and the plan is said to work only on Android app and Android mobile browsers. Unlike the Flipkart VIP subscription which is available only in select cities across India, the new Prime membership is expected to be made available across multiple cities across India.

Amazon is targeting Android users as there are over 650 million phone users in India with more than 85% of users on Android devices, added the report. It is unclear if this plan has been introduced only during the Great Indian Festival Sale or if the plan will be made available for a wider audience later this year, post the sale.
