Apple AirPods Pro Second-Generation Tipped to Launch in Second Half of 2022

Let’s take a look at the new AirPods Pro second-generation launch details, specs and features leaked so far.

Apple AirPods Pro 2

Apple last year refreshed the AirPods lineup with the launch of the new AirPods third-generation. The new AirPods sit between the second-generation model and the AirPods Pro launched a few years ago. Apple is expected to announce the second-generation AirPods Pro later this year. Previous reports suggested that the new Pro Apple TWS will debut in March 2022. That obviously did not happen, a new report now states that the new AirPods will debut in the second half of 2022.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo tweeted about the new timeline of the AirPods Pro. Let’s take a look at the new AirPods Pro second-generation launch details, specs and features leaked so far.

Apple AirPods Pro Second-Generation Launch Timeline Tipped

Apple is rumoured to launch the new AirPods Pro second-generation later this year. The company has not yet confirmed the launch timeline officially. Apple is hosting WWDC 2022 in June. However, we will not see the new AirPods there as the event is usually reserved for software and developer-centric announcements. The new AirPods Pro will launch in the second half of 2022, according to analyst Kuo.

Apple launched the first-generation AirPods Pro in October 2019. It would not be a surprise if the newer version launches around the same time. The company could also unveil its new TWS at the iPhone 14 launch event, which is rumoured to take place in September 2022. Currently, there is no official or rumoured launch month of the Pro Apple TWS.

Some key details of the TWS have leaked in the past. Kuo had previously claimed that the new premium AirPods will get a significantly upgraded wireless chip compared to the H1 chip on the original AirPods Pro. One can expect improvements in active noise cancellation, better battery life and some new audio-related functions. The new AirPods Pro could also support lossless audio on Apple Music.

The Pro AirPods will continue to sport the same stem design. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman previously claimed that the stem will go away from the AirPods Pro next year.  The Pro model is also said to get new motion sensors that will add new fitness features.

The charging case, however, is slightly different and will have speaker holes on either side of the lightning port at the bottom. Apple is also likely to add a “Find My” feature in iOS 16, wherein users can separately play a sound for the case.
