Though the new AirPods bring many features, the highlight is the spatial audio, and the company emphasises it a lot. Spatial Audio offers an immersive audio experience beyond stereo and provides an immersive surround sound based on the movement of the user’s head, powered by the new sensors. Spatial audio creates a three-dimensional audio experience by shifting sound virtually anywhere in space, and now Dolby Atmos will make sure that music sound the best, and it doesn’t matter whether someone is enjoying music or is in a Facetime call, the Spatial Audio provides an immersive experience.

Apple uses a custom driver on the new Airpods alongside a high dynamic range amplifier, which is claimed to produce powerful bass with crisp, clean high frequencies. An acoustic mesh covers the microphone to help reduce the sound of the wind, so that voice calls are crystal clear, and they also feature AAC-ELD, a superior speech codec offering full HD voice quality. However, they don’t offer Active Noise Cancellation or Transparency Mode. That is still reserved for the higher end Airpods Pro and AirPods Max.
The one-touch setup automatically pairs AirPods with other Apple devices. At the same time, Audio Sharing allows listeners to share the audio stream between two sets of AirPods, AirPods Pro, or AirPods Max. However, this feature will only work with an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Apple TV. The new Airpods also come with a sensor that can detect skin accurately, and based on where the AirPods are placed, be it in the ear or the pocket or on a table, it makes sure that AirPods stop playing music as soon as they are taken out of the ear.
Apple says that for an optimal listening experience with rich detail, the new AirPods feature Adaptive EQ. Adaptive EQ tunes sound in real-time based on how AirPods fit in the user’s ear. There is an inward-facing microphone that monitors sound. Based on the feedback, Adaptive EQ, powered by computational audio, tunes the low and mid frequencies to ensure that the user doesn’t miss anything due to any variety in fit.
Apple has also announced that the new AirPods are now part of the Find My network, including hundreds of millions of iPhones, iPads, and Macs worldwide. AirPods users can now use the proximity view in the Find My app and Lost Mode to track their lost AirPods or make them play a sound to track and find them easily.
The new AirPods offer an extra hour of battery life compared to the previous generations. They can provide up to six hours of listening time and up to four hours of talk time. Just charging them for five minutes provides about an hour of battery life, and with four additional charges in the case, users can get up to 30 hours of total listening time. The new AirPods now also support MagSafe wireless charging.

The all-new AirPods are priced at $179 in the US, and they will be available for Rs 18,500 in India via Apple’s Online Store. Pre-orders start today in India and 26 other countries and regions, and they will be available in stores beginning October 26. As the new AirPods have arrived, the 2nd Gen AirPods will cost Rs 12,900 in India, and AirPods Pro with MagSafe Charging Case will now be available for Rs 24900. With every purchase of any AirPods, AirPods Pro, or AirPods Max, new Apple Music subscribers can get six months of free service.
